lost achick but need advice...

I have some chicks that were born on 11/23...they are very well feathered and healthy, but this morning I lost one. Mind you they've never seen outside. They have been living in the house. I noticed somebody in their cage had a soft brown almost runny poop. Well they are on medicated chick starter and I couldn't figure out which one it was. Well I'm assuming it's the one I found passed this morning. My question is what can I do for the others? Should I do something precautionary so I don't lose anymore...or could this just be one of those losses that you never figure out?

Sounds to me like one of those unexplainable losses....im sorry you lost one. The brown runny poo is thier fecal poo. Normal.

I concur...the brown poo seems to be normal in babies.

The only thing I can say is maybe there was a genetic problem or health problem not visible to the eye.

Was the baby picked on at all? If it was just laying there, unpecked, we can assume it wasn't a weaker baby and the others pecked it to death...which can sometimes happen.
