lost all 8 Silkies and Frizzles last night....Grrr

I'm also sorry to hear of your loss. Guess my husband was right buying the hardware cloth for the outdoor run.....though he is using chicken wire buried underground under their run. I am learning from everyone on the forums and hope to share more once I receive mine.

Sorry for you loss, you must feel very sad, my thoughts are with you. I recently watched a documentary about foxes and they dont eat their prey straight away, they will kill then burry them and normally wont stop (especially if they have young) until they have got them all or enough to satify for a while. They kill them all first then come back to retrieve them after each one is burried. Im so glad we dont have a predator problem, Im sure there are foxes not far away from us though but I havnt seen one so far, I have gotten into a routine now of closing the door before I sit down to relax for the evening, normally an hour or two after dark.

Am so sorry for your loss. I am suprised you have never lost before with only using chicken wire... Hardware cloth, I believe, is the only way to go, it is not cheap, but does stop the heartache of loss.

The run on my Fort Knox has 14g weilded wire 2x3" 5' tall and will have hardwire cloth all the way around the bottom buried into the grown as a skirt. Its all held up with these

thanks- I'm still on pins and needles each morning. But nothing is even tripping the traps and we're not hearing any squawks or alarmed birds in the night under our open window. We will be reinforcing each pen as we have time and fair enough weather. they aren't all just chicken wire tho- we've got hardware cloth and rabbit guard fencing down low on each pen- buried fencing for them, big rocks along the bottom edges of some of them, netting and extra layers of fencing on top of existing fencing to cover the pens. I just don't know how safe they all are and we need to go over each pen again to look for rusty areas, etc.....
Thanks for all the good feelings...
