My easter egger was lethargic for 1-2 days just lying around in the coop. yesterday afternoon she was stretching her neck and opening beak to breath. She was clearly struggling. I checked for blockages and felt for bulging in neck but nothing noticed. I heard some gurgling noises. I called all the vets in the area and could get her in this morning. Unfortunately, she had a seizure last night and died. Does anyone have any idea what this was? I have 5 ladies around 1 year old and all been healthy, good layers. I cleaned out coop last night in case of infection. I'm concerned.

It sounds like she may have had a respiratory disease. ILT, MG, coryza, and infectious bronchitis are common diseases seen in chickens. Worms in the throat may also be a problem in tropical areas. If you Google "common poultry diseases," look at the link by University of Florida which gives symptoms and treatments for many diseases. A necropsy by the state vet or a poultry lab at many vet colleges can sometimes get you a necropsy if you preserve the corpe by refrigeration or on ice.
