How do I clean pens to get ready for new flock

Sorry for your loss.. Bleach is the only thing I can think of.....good luck

I would use bleach also yoou can also follow up with vinegar, and or Isolpropyl Alcohol. The Vinegar rinse is the cheaper option.

Thanks, I am still very leary of starting another flock in. These cages.they were vey unclean.

Hi Mike,

Since you have had this outbreak, I would get in touch with the state veterinarian's office, let them know what you lost birds from, and then ask for their suggestions on how to disinfect and with what products. Especially ask if you need to wait for a given amount of time before putting new birds on your premises. Remember, the soil on which your birds were kept may have bacteria on it.

You should be able to google your state vet contact information.
