Hi all.
I brought home a new hen today, and while transporting her to the temporary holding pen, she escaped. I haven't been able to find her. I've checked my entire property and all adjacent neighbors yards. Anybody have any idea how to lure home a hen who has no idea where she is?

Thanks.

Perhaps move your current hens into a tractor and put them out in the open? She may come and try to join them.

We keep finding chickens in our backyard that don't belong to us, about once a month. I have knocked on neighboring doors and posted on craigslist and even the local animal control center trying to find out where they are coming from... I think they are 2nd and 3rd generation free range chickens from a neighbor a few years ago that had a flock. At anyrate, they seem attracted to my chickens as they keep showing up, or maybe just looking for food and water. Make sure there is food in sight but just out of reach if she comes around. We use butterfly or fishing nets to catch the 'wild' ones we keep finding. If you happen to be in Wyoming let me know!!!

Thanks. That's what I'm hoping. I hope that tomorrow when the girls are out free ranging she'll come back. I feel so bad - I'm sure she must be scared.

After going door to door last night, a neighbor came over this morning to tell us she was in their yard. She is home safe and sound. Thanks All. I'm so relieved!
