Lost my best friend yesterday :(

That truly suck as I share your pain. It's been 5 years since we put our beloved Lab down and I still to this day "step over" and empty spot thinking its my "loopy-Doo's". He always laid at bottom of stairs and I always had to step over him to go anywhere-we called him speedbump for short..LOL My youngest still crys when she thinks of that dog-he was amazing and so gentle--Im truly very sorry for your loss.

Thank you all for the sympathy and support I really need right now. CHickens are hard enough to loose but this by far is a much bigger blow. I am so very fortunate to have had gizmo in my life I just wish he was immortal

I'm so sorry for your loss. We had to do this for our Lab about 6 years ago. I know it was the right thing to do and the best thing for her (cancer which we'd battled with chemo, she was doing GREAT but it came back and she lost the use of her back legs. We could tell she was just not herself when that happened. It's never easy losing such an important member of your family like this. I'm so sorry for your family.

This makes me cry every time I read it, but it is happy too...

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So sorry for your loss. You made a very tough decision, but the right one for Gizmo. It's hard to lose any family member, whether they have two legs or four.

I, too, will be facing that same road very soon with my 18 year old cat. She is declining, and soon it will be to much for her to bear toget around (failing hips) and I, too, will have to say goodbye to a dear friend.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

So Sorry for you loss. It's hard for people who don't "love" an animal to understand why we grieve so over the loss of one. We lost our old beloved Boxer Hendrix about 7 years now, and we still talk about him like he was a human member of our family. We LOVED him, and he was the talk of the town. You did a wonderful thing for Gizmo, and I love the Indian belief about how any pet we have in our life, is going to be waiting at Heavens gate for us, and THEY decide whether we get to cross over. I love the idea that I will see all the wonderful pets I have had my whole life waiting for me. You will definitely be one to cross over. No doubt in my mind.

We lost our Cocker Spaniel on Dec 12th , he was 13 and I had had him since he was 9 months old. I am sure that Gizmo knew how much he was loved.
