Lost my golden hen Puppy

I am so sorry. I absolutely love that you named her "Puppy", the name alone says so much about her personality. I hate that she was taken from you, by a predator, and you didn't get to say goodbye. Take heart knowing that you gave her a happy life and she obviously adored you :love I found this quote to be comforting when we had to say goodbye to our dog Cofi...

yes.. im sure its the same dog.. same pattern, it was caught on camera the same day as an attack.. tho the actual attack hasn't.. another neighbour witnessed this dog grab one of my chickens too.. she caught the dog and marched it to its owners.. i got an apology taped to my door the next day.. ive got an animal control report started now.. my girls are more pets than anything else..

thank you.. i'm still heartbroken over her.. it took till today just to look at a picture of her..

I love dogs, I have dogs, but I wouldn't trust any dog to run loose. Sometimes, they aren't chasing down to kill, they are chasing down because it's "fun". That makes absolutely no difference at all to the end result, but a dog not under its owner's immediate control won't remember any previous training/admonitions against "playing" with smaller animals.

Aaargh. Why weren't the dogs confined? We have fines for dogs running loose. If a dog killed something, it can be declared a "dangerous dog" and then the rules are even higher for that dog. No regulation can help with the loss of a pet...:( It's so sad :(

@PotatoChip.. i know.. the people that own this dog, they are husband and wife vets.. our town vets.. they should know better.. they have 2 other dogs that wander thru my yard, those dogs are docile and dont care about my chickens.. but this new dog, ah.. they have promised me it would never get loose again.. but? i know it didn't mean to kill Puppy. it mauled Apple first, she got away, tho badly injured.. then it appears to have grabbed Puppy.. i never found her, just a long feather trail.. i imagine it injured her enough that maybe she crawled away and died, or a wild animal got her.. i have searched every inch of my woods for her.. ah.. thanks.. it really is frustrating.. to keep my girls alive and well and safe from wild animals, while living in the woods.. and to have their only attacks come from a persons pet dog.. ARGHHH

I've spent $$$ to keep my dogs at home, where they belong, and my other critters contained and as safe as possible. I expect the same consideration from my neighbors, and have been generally not disappointed. If my animal does get out, I'm out there after it, and expect to repair any damages. Free running dogs are NOT acceptable! Mary
