Lost my job and now they pour salt in the wound...

First of all, I have loved a lot of the teacher/coaches, but as a teacher I find it unbelievable that they put the coach/science, arts, social studies jobs together. It is a joke! Most of my current jocks are horrible at science. Science is for "nerds"! So they later go on to have to teach it so they can be a coach??? It is not fair to anyone.

They are separate things and should BE separate.

Holy smokes. I always rather suspected that the state of Texas thought football more important than science (and that this would be the downfall of the American economy--geeks make more high-paying tech jobs than jocks make stadium hotdog vendors), but this confirms it. I'm very sorry about your situation.

I do happen to recall a couple of decent teacher/coaches, but they were teachers first, coaches second. And they sure did not tolerate any grade inflation for student athletes, either.

Definitely go for your MS if you can; more than just teaching community college, it is handy if you want to be a science teacher in another state. Where I live, teachers are required to either get a Master's or be in a part-time program for one. So if you already have the Master's, it's a lot easier to find jobs outside of Texas.
