Lost my lady last nigt, Now garlic hypervigilant

Unfortunately 'the chicken chick' in large part relies on so-called 'expert herbalist' Susan Burek, whose information is partly incorrect, partly blatantly untrue, and quite skewed, and whose very own website shows animals in a poor state of health raised by her methods. (I did a websearch on her as per one poster's suggestion and found her website, showing various species in a sub par state of health, not one truly healthy-looking individual).

To hear her tell it, she discovered and pioneered herbal medicine. Astonishing claims, really; how many thousands of years old is she?!

It would be patently unwise to rely on that source. Here's a previous topic where we went over this. It has many helpful links though, on garlic etc, so should be educational.

Best wishes.

I personally find the chicken chick to be very informative and helpful. The fact that she is in liaison with a qualified vet and experts in there field , is enough for me. I wouldn't dare defame or question some one s expertise on here, after all that is not the intention of this web site. I think that we are all intelligent enough to weed out what information is significant to us and what is not.

A bit of perspective is necessary to assist in 'weeding out' incorrect information there. Expanding our knowledge on poultry is the intention of this website, as far as I'm aware.

So, in keeping with this intention, you shared some info from a source who unfortunately partly relies on an unreliable source, and then I shared some info on why the source of some of that info is unreliable; there's no need to take it personally, I'm sure Scorpiochick is intelligent enough to weed out the medicinal herbs from the invasive ornamentals there. ;)

You can find hundreds of 'experts' and vets who are pro or anti any one thing, be it DE, garlic, ACV, herbal treatments, and pretty much everything else. Self-proclaimed experts and qualified people have no monopoly on being right, unfortunately. It's simply a matter of subscribing to the knowledge that your experience has proven true or most likely to be true.

Susan Burek makes some obviously false claims, one of the most blatant being that she pioneered and discovered herbal treatments for poultry; I don't know how anyone can trust in her methods when she makes such claims and then on top of that her own animals are not in great health. It's not defamation to state the obvious there, it's a necessary observation in my opinion... Surely it takes a suspension of belief to believe that she actually pioneered herbal treatments of poultry as per her claim. That's a bit steep, lol, I mean, it's only all of history that she's contradicting there. She is taking old and established treatments and passing them off as her own, claiming she discovered them. I don't find that particularly ethical nor trust-inducing.

ETA: when someone here posts that they've been told a certain brand is good value for money and I find that brand is actually very expensive compared to the average for that product, I will say so, and it's not out of some desire to hurt feelings or reputations, but to protect from unfair or unreasonable situations. It's not about defamation, it's about correct information. My concern here is not with 'the chicken chick' at all, it's with the incorrect information that herbalist is stating which is potentially harmful.

I shared the info I did because it contains links to studies on garlic which can help set the record straight.

Best wishes to all.
