Now all of my chantecelers have died. I lost my 9 week old pullet today. She was dead in the coop when I woke up. Are they just incredibly fragile? They don't seem to have been sick or have any neurological symptoms. I wonder if the others smothered her. Even though it's warm they still insist on sleeping in a "peep pile" even when it's 70 degrees in the coop. I miss my little girl

So no one else has had trouble with chanty's? They're incredibly sweet, real nice temperment, but now I'm afraid to get more.

I have no experience with that breed but I am so sorry you've lost all of yours. Have you done a search on here on that breed? If they are extra fragile I'm sure people will be talking about it.

Chantelers are supposingly a hardy bird. I have had no trouble with mine. They are the sweetest ever. Were yours from a hatchery or a reputable breeder? If so, I would give it another try.

Sorry for the late reply. She and my other chanty were 2 of the older larger birds. I heard they were hardy and live in Northern NY so that's why I bought them. I was so sad they were both incredibly sweet. I'm not sure, but I think my "rare" is a partridge chanty and she is still alive and thriving. I bought them from Ideal. I've lost 4 ideal chicks and no TSC chicks. weird... but so it goes.

So sorry about your chicks. I'm hoping to get some chantecelers next year of so. I had also thought that they were hardy. Hopefully it was just those particular chicks. Good luck if you try them again.
