Lost one hen, another ill! Please Read ANY help appreciated!

I know this is hard and I have been looking through the BYC archives trying to find out about the clicking but most talks about Respiratory problems, like drainage and stuffiness, her eyes look clear right?

Miss Lydia, thank you so much for taking the time. I am on a shared computer and don't have much access during the day.

Her eyes are clear, and bright. Nostrils are clear. No obvious drainage from mouth or pussiness like infection. But I can only glimpse in her mouth and throat when she opens it herself. When I try to pry it open she wiggles away, and I don't have anybody here able to help.

I called the chicken vet office in elk grove to ENSURE I had an appointment. We don't have the money, but credit will work and at least then I can find out what the cause is and take it from there.

I have a Barred Rock and an Easter Egger hens in the yard, my flock, and they all look and are acting totally fine. Last summer my EE Munk went through something similar to this BUT she came through it after a week or so. My Brahma ended up dying and I am so scared Butternut will die. I have no idea what it is but the Brahma and Butternut were both in the flock when Munk went through her thing. This was a long time ago I thought she had an impacted crop but as the thread goes on her crop empties and she is still lathargic and runny poop.

Now? My EE is totally fine, happy and running around with the others. I just hope Butternut shows the same improvement. I can't help but think my Brahma passed because she was already weakened by the moult. It was a hard fast moult so I can see that happening.

Will keep you all updated!! Now I am just waiting for 3:40pm so I can take her to the vet. Will absolutely update. If anybody comes up with anymore suggestions let me know!

She stopped eating 1 day ago, and stopped drinking last night. Will she die of starvation or dehydration before 3:40?? Thanks for any help.

Everybody's words and thoughts mean a lot to me. I know I am not the only person to have ever lost a chicken and I am so comforted in the fact people know what I am going through. Thank you all so much.. It is really helping a pretty helpless girl in Northern Ca!

I was just on the phone with Kalie, and while we were on the phone, Butternut had a seizure and passed.

to Kalie. Butternut was a sweetheart and will be sorely missed.

Thank you, and thank you hhandbasket for giving the news..

I am so sad, she was such a sweetheart and always talked to me and such.. I jus feel like I was hit with a real hard loss.. I keep crying and I knew when I heard movement in the brooder tub what was happening. I am still bringing her to the vet at 3 to figure out what happened..

But I think I might know.. My brother is a people EMT and he said that how she passed and how it seemed was like she was poisoned or died of toxicity. Hhandbasket also said this. None of my neighbors would have done it intentionally, and it could have also been from any number of plants on the backyard area.. Hopefully the vet can confirm it was toxicity levels.. Nobody else appears ill as of now. My BR and EE have been here since a day old, and never shown signs of illness, but the Brahma and Butternut were also MUCH more adventerous eaters. BR and EE wouldn't eat most things besides crumbles...
