Lost one of my peafowl today....

We just wormed our flock and I know the peafowl had to have gone around and drank from the chicken waterers at some point. I thought of the respiratory thing because that is usually what we will lose a bird to every so often and the dummies always stand in the rain! I keep trying to think what killed him and now that you said that about the upper respiratory infection it doesn't really fit. I wish I had been home to try to get an idea of what happened...

I know it's too late now, but I believe Maryland has a very affordable necropsy service for out of state birds... Not sure what Virginia has to offer, but it's probably worth looking into.

After loss in my purple black shouldered spalling I decided to get a companion for my remaining peacock. I wanted a male peacock since I don't plan on breeding and found a beautiful pie bald India blue at Loudon Farm. Can't wait to get him home and surprise my dad :). He will be a promotion/ Christmas present. As for my mom I figured I'd ask for forgiveness later. I know she will see him and say,"Where and why did you get another peacock?!". The joys of having a poultry/bird loving daughter haha
Ill try to get a picture posted of him later. He is hiding out in my apartment in the city right now. Sadly not the first time I have smuggled a bird into my city apartment!
