I had a pair of the most beautiful Spash Chocin Banties. They were a perfect pair. I was going to give then a bath today and take pictures so I could put them up for sale. She was nowhere to be seen this morning. No feathers, no blood, nothing. They are in a coop with a yard. Today I took shade cloth and put it over the top of the fence. I've had a few chickens and ducks vanish into thin air like that. Is it Hawks?

Could be hawks, I dont know how one could get through a shade cloth though. Dont give up hope! 2 out of my 3 chickens have been missing, no feathers, blood, etc. One was found under my neighbors porch (She lives across the street and has MANY MANY cats) and my other was found in trapped in our wood pile, injurred by another cat (belonged to the same neighbor). They could just wonder back or something, just keep your hopes up!

How Horrible!!! I certainly hope it is a case where she just managed to get over the fence and will make it back. It is just so heart wrenching to lose a loved one. Keep us posted.

Could An Owl make off with a full size bird? I'll keep them closed up at night now and keep a really good count of who's left. If an owl can't get to them will it go away after awhile?

It's so aggravating not knowing what happened! I'll keep my fingers crossed that she comes back!

We have a family of owls in my neighborhood. I'm not too worried about it since their nocturnal and my chickens are locked up at night. Should I be worried?
