Lost Rooster

Did your mom post pics of him after you guys first caught him? It might have been another post, but I know I saw a very sad looking little white roo with a pale droopy comb and I think she's the one that posted it--your names are easy to remember

Anyhow, if that's the same roo I just want to say WOW, He's looking really good! What a lucky little guy.

No.. he's not the same roo. I (McNugget) did post on that thread (https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=310070) about finding this little guy the same day the very sad looking little white roo with a pale droopy comb was found. Weird eh? I wonder how that roo is doing.

The pictures were taken last night.

McNuggetJr should still be at school right now... or should I say BETTER be at school

Is that a band on his leg? If you don't know anyone nearby that has chickens he could be a dumped bird. But then they can travel a long way can't they, unless there are critters.

Yeah... it is a band. I plan to attempt to remove it this weekend. Is there anything special I need to know about to remove the band? special tools?

he doesn't look sick, but i would quarantine him first before putting him in with your flock... you never know if he might have something that he could give to your birds... chickens are very susceptible to transmitting diseases to one another.

Yep, he looks just like my Rock banty, minus the coloring. My boy is very friendly and respectful.

Not sure how to remove the band. I have a hen who was given to me as a gift and she's had a band on her for a few months. It didn't seem to easy to take off and it isn't around her tightly so we just left it on. I agree about the quarantine advice. Who knows what his previous home was like? Keep him seperate for a month, checking for paracites, injuries, illness, etc. If he's clear in a month, then let him go.
