I've read in here that some people like the higher protein for their hens like the game bird . They said that it makes the eggs really BIG. My question is is that gonna cause the hens a problem having such large eggs? I've read about prolapse vents ?

Well you don't want to have too big of eggs but some protein won't hurt them. I mix mine with some protein and scratch so they get both.
Plus I give them kitchen veggie and fruit leftovers corn cob and they love it. They give flavorful eggs.

I have barred rock and Rhode Island Red and I'm currently giving a complete pellet by purina and some scratch I've only had them since last fri . As of today they've lain 28 eggs is that about what I should expect?
