Lots of Brooder Questions!!!

That looks great, super similar to what I'd like to do! I'm only getting 4 chicks at minimum, 8 at max, so that should be a good amount of space, at least for a while. My problem is once they get big! I will definitely be using shavings, so I hope that you guys are right and there won't be any waterer problems. Thank you for the advice!
Yes, this looks good, We cut out a hole on the top and zip tied hardware cloth over the opening. You won't regret getting clear like in the picture. We had clear lids as well. The waters in this pic is what I use and HIGHLY recommend to keep water clean and fresh.

Thanks! My older chickens are not on a nipple waterer...would I have to transition the chicks out of it?

I don't, my older ones have the nipples on buckets and available in the traditional style (dish kind of thing) as well as random bowls and the little pond. They all use them all. When I get new chickens they watch the others, and learn from them to see what to do. If you wanted to transition, I would just add one of the small dish type wateres or a shallow dish, I promise it won't take long to figure it out.
