Lots of dead ducklings! What do I do?

My golden 300s arrived today. The post office called and I got there ten minutes later. I checked the box and all but 1 were dead! 9 dead chicks! I called metzlrer right away and they are sending nine new chicks next monday. In the meantime what do I do with this poor little singular chick? It's peeping it's head off. What can I do to make it more comfortable until i get the others next week?

Oh so sad. Try a stuff fuzzy animal for it to cuddle to. Give it electrolyte sugar water to help with the dehydration.

put a mirror or stuffed toy in with him- a duck decoy works to

aawwww poor baby. I would put a hand mirror in there and a stuffed animal. Just spend as much time with the little one as you can.

I feel terrible it's so sad. When we are in the room with it it's nice and quite when we leave it peeps it's little head off.

aaawwww maybe put him in a little tote that you can move around the house so he can see you...when new babies arrive then he will have pals.

Here is the poor little thing by herself. She seems really strong. She is crying a lot and keeps trying to jump out of her brooder. On the car ride home she burst out of her box and rode home on my shoulder under my fleece.

A mirror and a turkey feather duster taped to the side of the tote should help.

Wow...so many dead. That is so sad. The ducks psicorp and I got from Metzer are so healthy. I wonder what the heck happened??

How s/he is so adorable. Sad so many lost. All of mine from holderread arrived great and ready to see someone.

Poor thing!
Give her a stuffie and a mirror like suggested.

Also a towel or paper towels will be best for her feet, as newspaper gets slick and can cause spraddle legs.

I got in a single duckling once. He peeped his head off and I just stuck him in my apron pocket and he settled right down.

I called him my Pocket Pekin.
