LOTS of feed being wasted

Take a piece of PVC pipe or in my case, a plastic yogurt container. Cut it so you have this rectangle piece. Basically cut off the bottom of the yogurt container. Then cut small square holes, about an inch in diameter at the bottom. Then I just roll it and tuck it inside of the feeder. Screw on the bottom and flip it over.

Only a small amount of feed will dispense out of the squares. You can make them bigger if you want more feed or smaller if you want less feed to dispense. The chicks are not able to beak out the feed and I waste nearly nothing.

One more picture. This is the final layout. The result is that the feed is only 1/2" deep rather than full to the top. It is much harder for the chicks to sweep the feed out of the feeder and onto the ground:
Yes, brilliant. I just posted my photos too and then went back and saw yours. I got this idea from someone else on this site. They made a fancy one out of PCV pipe which was much nicer than mine. But mine cost me nothing and I used kitchen scissors to make mine. Works great.

for chicks try gring feed with coffee grinder and mix yogurt to make a runny paste less cosumption no waste after 3 to 7 days ferment their starter no waste better nutrition healtier cheeper chickens everybodys goal all methods work better with pasture free range or tractor

Yea i just stop at a store qnd it dose make a mess but i dont care so i just pick it up
I use a small pig feeder like the one pictured. The opening can be adjusted to allow only a little feed to come out at a time and the trough is deeper to hold food in. It also holds a lot of feed if I need to be gone over a weekend.

I just began doing the fermented feed thing. So much less waste and nothing to build. It's better for them too.

I Have the same problem. Thanks for posting!
