Lots of pain, little money (a vent)

Been there done that...I have the never ending root canal..
The butcher who did it the first time was an idiot...she should never have even TRIED!
It took 14 months to the tune of $1400 on tooth #14...
We finally gave up on this one and have gone to the BU school of dentistry where they're actually REALLY good...
It's been a couple of months and I have a permanent crown and all is right with my tooth.

I agree on the clove oil.

Good luck Gritsar.

* OG!! Tooth work is one of the things DH and I BOTH hope to work on when the house sale closes. I had it pretty bad the other night. And no meds OR alcohol in the house. I resorted to 2 grams of vitamin C twice that night and believe it or not, the pain lessened a whole lot by morning. PTL!!

Actually that's exactly what the dentist said when I talked to him this afternoon. We are in a very rural area with no dental colleges around. Actually the area is so economically depressed most of the MDs and all but three of the dentists have closed their doors. Of the three dentists left in town, two were closed today. Luckily, my SO has known the one dentist for a very long time and felt comfortable about calling him at home. We didn't get ahold of him right away, he was out cutting hay on his farm. He called me in some antibiotics and said he will take the bridge and the remainder of the teeth out on Thursday; after the antibiotics have had a chance to work.
eggzettera, thanks for the link, but my SO doesn't believe in credit. Everything we own is paid for with cash. And it's not that he can't afford it, he can. It's just that I still have somewhat of an independant streak in me and I like to be able to carry my own weight around here; as hard as that is at times.
Thanks y'all for your well wishes. I hope to be feeling right as rain by Friday.

I am so sorry tooth ache pain is the worst!!!!!I would rather give birth to 6 babies then have a tooth ache. It always seen when you save up a little money something breaks down or you get sick or hurt. I think I would have drunk half of the JD or maybe all of it, just to pass out and not have a tooth ache. I hope you will be feeling better soon, the antibotics should help.

Oh man, I'm so sorry you're dealing with tooth pain; that is one of the worst pains. Hope you can get the infection cleared up, and everything taken care of soon!

Oh I hope you feel better soon! Yes, sounds like you have an infection. If there's an infection, its really really painful, and constant. If its just nerves (exposed), then its intermittent.

I'm so sorry that you're going through this.

I just got through with an abcessed tooth. Horrible pain!

Hopefully, one of the grocery stores there is giving free antibiotics like Publix is here.

Here's hoping the week passes quickly until you feel better!

I don't know if it will mess with the antibiotics you're on now, but I used Tanac (el cheapo pain reliever for the mouth) when mywisdom tooth with a vengeance was coming in and it kept me sane.
