So the gambels and the blue scaled get along okay? They are very cute.

I see you have a handsome tortoise as well!

Fine looking quail you got there! If you add some brush to their area, it will calm them down a bit and they won't pace along the edges. A more natural setting works wonders on Gambels. Great set up and nice looking birds! Do they call to the wild Gambels in the area? LOL

I've been dreaming of building a lovely run for blue scaled quail with mesquites etc at our farm in Texas. Aaaahhh...someday...

They live in the area but the only thing in this neighborhood is cats and there are other gambels everywhere but that small area I live.
I have seen them everywhere in sun lakes, the chandler airport, and in cave creek

What kind of brush do you prefer in a 5' by 3' cage.
And when I get some where would I put 4 quail while I put the brush in and it will be tough to gather them.

You can just cut small branches from any type of mesquite, pinyon or juniper tree. I took some cholla branches that were long dead to make the form to hold some cut branches. Eventually I ended up using fake christmas trees instead of cutting branches. A lot less work over years of keeping quail. You don't need huge trees and you should be able to drag a few things in one at a time without escaping quail. Any type of natural cover will make them feel more secure.
