Loud duck!

Hi! I have 3 2 month old ducks and the Cayuga quacks/honks really, really loudly whenever I go outside and she sees me, why is this? She is quite friendly and I don’t think it’s out of fear, many times she does it whilst running up to me. I am not particularly annoyed by the behavior it’s just a little strange and I would like to know why. None of my other ducks do this. Thanks!

Oh ok. Just to clarify, I don’t mean she is quacking because they all quack, and they can get quite loud, I mean whenever she first sees me outside almost always she’ll run up and do one or two very loud honk like noises. I don’t know if that changes anything, but I felt I should clarify that.

She is happy to see you or is letting everyone know the human is out and may bring food or treats. Mine often do it when I get home from work.

I am inclined to believe that they are all girls as they all quack and do it quite loudly at times, even my Cayuga who also likes to do some honk like quacks.

I agree she is excited to see you.

Mine hear the back door and go all kinds of quacky. At 6am it is probably unappreciated by the neighbors.

Mine do this when anyone walks up I think they know it means food and cuddles and they get all excited
