Does anyone know how to keep your Jersey Giants a bit quieter? We have 2 nine month olds (among several other breeds) and they are the loudest and most agressive towards humans and the other hens. They are extremely loud every morning for several hours. I'm actually thinking about rehoming my 2 because they are causing quite the disruption in the home and the flock.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have 7 JG's. 3 cockerals, 4 pullets. They're almost 4 months old. I love mine! Almost I do have one roo who likes to come behind me and "goose" me when I'm bending over!

So far no crowing or anything but I think its because between every other roo that crows and the goonies (guineas), I don't think they've had a chance to find their voices.

Mine are fairly quiet! The roo crows but not often, and is a gentleman. My hen is bossy but quieter than most of my other girls. They hang out together and roost together at night. They came from Welp (Privett) and are beautiful!!!

None of my JGs were aggressive at all. Even the roos were very mild-mannered, calm birds. IMO, no flock is complete without a JG or 2.

You haven't lived until you had 7 JG cockerels crowing under your bedroom window and each one was a feathered foghorn.

I Have a JG roo and four ladies and they are the quietest things in my pin my wyondotts are more bossy than the jg's are and my roo only crows before dawn and they are really calm no problem at all . I love em ! Maybe he's in compitition with another rooster or something I would hehome him or make stew if he don't cut it out tho. After all who has a problem with getting more chickens there everywhere LOL!

I also have one that talks or screams all the time, however not aggressive whatsoever. Everytime we go out to the run or coop she will follow us around and scream at us. It is actually funny and we love her, but she is the mouth of the South.

I have been researching JG's for almost a year. This is the only time I have ever seen a post or anything about them being agressive toward any thing or any one. Everything, I have seen always speaks about the gentle calmness of them. But I guess there is always the exception to exery rule. LOL Sorry to say it BUT, any agressive bird will be envited to stew! I will not permit agressive behavior from any of my animals. Not even my dogs! They know that unless I give the command, they better be big babies. No matter what! Any agressive behavior will be delt with in a like manner. All of my animals are treated with kindness and love. They all are treated equally. All are loved and all return the favor 10 fold. Even the new ones come around quickly. I am a very hands on owner. None of my animals fear me but they do respect and obey me. Not bragging! I just belive that you should treat an animal like you would a child. You let them know YOU are incharge, and there are penaltys for acting up. You never deal out more punishment than is needed and always reward Good behavior. My PaPa raised Hogs (200+) and when feeding them in a huge common trough, NONE of them fought or acted up! if they ever did They got the blacksnake to the ears!!! OUCH!!! only took a few times and they all learned to just stand and eat shoulder to shoulder. It was amazing to see. He taught me how to deal with people and animals. Fair, equal, strict, careing, respectful, loving, a lil forgivness, Direct, and dont be wishy washy. If you make a choice or decission stand by it and accept and deal with the conciquences that come.
Sorry I kinda got caught up in a memory. LOL

Good Luck and God Bless!
