Yes, I know but what does she have to do to become certified? Is it the same process as with poultry? Do all of the large animals go through the same process?
I think we may have something confused so let me see if I can get it right....I called the head guy to see about getting the NPIP testing done. He gave me the name of the State vet for my area that does this. I then asked if this was something my wife could do since she is a vet. He told me that she would have to be certified to do the NPIP testing. I asked what was involved with that and he replied we would have to show her how to get the samples and how to fill out the paperwork. He said that it's not a big deal....if she wants to get certified to have her call him. Horses don't do a NPIP but are suppose to get a coggins every year. It's a blood test that she sends to a lab with some paperwork and 3 pics of the horse. She has never gotten a positive but if she did they (the state) would come get the horse and put it down.
I don't think that she had to be certified to do the coggins on horses....just have a Vet's Lic. for that State. Hope this helped............Chris
