"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I never put chickens together in a coop until they are the same physical size. A young three month old chick really can not protect itself from a year old hen unless you have a lot of room for them to get away from each other. I doubt that would be the case with a tractor. I'm sure that's why you don't see the one beating up on the smaller chicks when they are out in the yard.

Yep! A week ago I gave my son 14 baby Pekin ducks. This weekend they put the ducklings in with their full grown chickens. A few hours later they came back to find 8 of the 14 ducklings pecked to death by the chickens. They took the remaining six inside and put them in a little wire kennel. Again, the poor little ducklings found out that we live in a very cruel world. The ducklings escaped from the kennel and met their demise by my son's tiny Chiquaua. In a matter of hours, all 14 ducklings were dead.

That's so sad Twiley!!

Yep! There's definitely a learning curve involved for those just getting some new feathered friends. My daughter-in-law was heartbroken because she had already bonded with the little ducklings and had them following her around the yard. I hatched 15 more Pekins this weekend so some will be going to live with them. This time I'm sending a duck pen to keep this in until they're grown enough to survive outside. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll have a happy LONG life.

Just wanted to see if everyone saw my earlier post. I think it was below the seam..lol!!
Twiley did u get moved?
Joe

We got one move completed -- one more to go. We will close the sale on our home next month which will give us the $$$ we need to complete the remodel on the house on the property. So, looking forward to one more final move.

A beautiful Sunday in the Country!

Your sebbie goose is gorgeous! Have you hatched any yet? So far, I had one that was supposed to hatch about a week ago but for whatever reason it didn't hatch. It was fully formed but dead in the egg. I have several that should hatch within the next couple of weeks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

No sebbie goslings yet! She should hatch her clutch in a couple weeks. I have a few more in the incubator, and I also have another goose that decided to set last week. I was trying to pull all the eggs, but I lost 2 grandparents last week so the egg picking fell to the wayside. The gray girl only has a few eggs under her because she was DETERMINED to set. I felt bad letting her sit on a big nest of nothing! She looks like she will be a good mama for only being 1 year old.

So sorry to hear about your grandparents. It's quite sad not having the older folks around.

Is the grey goose one of your offspring?
