"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Oreo died today.

. She was my beautiful cross beak EE chick I posted a picture of last week. Sad day for my 4 year old son. She was his favorite and he keeps asking if we can dig her back up out of her burial spot so he can hold her.
Sad day for my honey as well. He knew the battalion commander (Tisdale) murdered at Fort Bragg very well. He's known him for almost 9 years now.
Terri, weren't you talking about how bad the Mosquitos are at your place? I went out to the coop to shut the windows tonight and I was shocked to see so many Mosquitos! We are getting a fogger!
G'nite, all.
Sorry about Oreo. That's so sad!

And, your husband's friend, Tisdale. Your family has really had a bad day. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

Thanks for the info really appreciate it. I switched today from a chick starter to a grower/finisher, we will see how that works. I saw some good ideas for home made feeders and waters using 5 gallon buckets, so i got me a couple of buckets and gunna build me some tomorrow. it kinda expensive to go by the big feeders from the feedmill or tractor supply.

My stepdad made them out of the shallow metal pans at TSC (about $4 per pan), a 5 gallon bucket (another $4), and a few screws and washers that he had lying around. He drilled about 10 one inch holes around the bottom of the bucket, screwed the pan to the bottom of the bucket (be sure to use some washers so they don't pull out, and filled it up. It's super cheap, and worked great! They cant scratch the feed out of it because the lip is higher on the pan :)

What's up everyone? Hope all are having a good weekend so far!!!
Well I spent the day putting the finishing touches on my Rooster Condo / Breeding Pens for my NH boys today and got them all moved into their new home. This will basically be where they will stay all the time. The girls and the Juveniles will stay in the large coop in the back ground. I plan on building a few more of these for my BR’s, RIR’s and BO’s so this is the test model. I’ll see how it works out and if I need to make any changes before I start on the next one. These will all be open air coops and I made each pen large enough for a trio.
So what ya think.....

And this pic is with the boys moved in. These guys are all German NH's and are starting to get some size to them...

Awesome! Hey Chris, how about you come to my house and build me a few of these? :D

The good thing about this is that it can be moved! I can build it at my place and bring it over to you... lol!

Chris
Awesome work Chris! We have to get started on a "pea condo" for when the babies outgrow the chicken tractor. (They're still in the brooder right now). I'm trying to convince Jim to do a gazebo type thing-- make it decorative!

I like that Chris! If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost you for materials?
