So, is Cozumel, Mexico & Progreso, Yucatan, Mexico safe? Drug Cartels over there?

It's Mexico. It's probably safe to say that the drug cartels are everywhere there.

Thanks for helping me narrow down my vacation/cruise.

And drug cartels would not stop our family from cruising to Mexico. It's like when we lived overseas and the locals would say they never want to visit Chicago because the mob and gangs are there.

Okay, perhaps the drug cartels are a bit more of a direct threat...

Puerto Rico? Bahamas? Jamaica? Although I had a travel agent refuse to set up an all girls trip to Jamaica once. She said there are many rapes there.

We decided not to use her as our travel agent.

She kept saying no to every place we chose to travel. She thought each place was too dangerous for college aged girls. We finally just planned the trip on our own. It was less complicated that way, we didn't have to hear multiple horror stories and ended up having a fabulous trip. We ended up doing a road trip from Colorado to San Diego, all the way up the California coast, Vegas and many stops in between. We were all world travelers that hadn't seen much of the U.S. yet so it was a perfect trip for us.
