"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

What do you guys think? Will this be suitable for few days until I can rebuild their run and fix their coop? It's 10 square feet and my girls are only 5 weeks old.

One of my tornado girls is limping a bit, but she's getting around fine. Her leg doesn't feel broken and she is putting some pressure on it. Hopefully it will heal well.
That will work great! Just keep it clean every day so they don't get sick.

Yes, that will be just fine. Perfect setup until you can get their home together. About your limping girl, she probably has a sprain but she will be ok. Just make sure she is not moving around too much so that she can heal quickly. Good job over there and Good Luck. Keep us posted.

That'll work just fine! I'm so glad your girls were all right. Sending healing vibes to your lame girl.

Is that what Opelousas looks like?! They said 49 was closed, I better call my cousin and see if they're okay...

It was pretty nasty here in Carencro, the run flooded so we moved the girls to the garage (they were pooing all over our patio furniture, lol).

How did the sand hold up in your run? We were gonna sand ours this weekend.

Yes, this is what it looks like in Opelousas. Just heard that we got 12 inches of rain. Going to pick eggs now, so I will take pics of the sand run. I'm scared to see the damage of what 12 inches of rain did to that sand run.

As if today wasn't a weird enough day, one of our girls laid their first egg... In the middle of the yard. At 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

It's a little smallish but I guess that's because it's her first. I was really surprised, they're not quite 6mo yet. Guessing it was the Wellsummer or one of the golden sexlinks maybe? Those lay brown eggs right?

Whatever the case, DH better get his butt in gear and finish that new coop. :| I don't feel like rooting around their current one or the rest of the yard trying to figure out where they hid them.

I hope your run is okay, kuntrygirl! :( I don't know how many inches we got here but it's taking forever for the water to go down.

Ok. Here ya go. After 12 inches of rain today, this is what the sand run looked like. There were 2 spots that looked damp but no puddles of water anywhere. I stepped in the damp spots with my steel toe boots to see how much water was in there. I would not even have been able to scoop up a tablespoon of water. There was ZERO water in the uncovered sand run after 12 inches of rain. I was sold before on a sand run but now even more so.

Same here - I didn't get home until right at dark (not that it wasn't already)- but the sand in my coop held up beautifully!!! puddles everywhere else.
I definitely am sold on sand!
