"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Soooo..... I'm getting ready to either add on to my coop, or build another one (my addiction is growing) and i would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see your set ups! I don't care what it is.. i want to see it! PLEASE post pics! :fl
I built mine in Jan using parts and pieces I had collected along with some things I bought from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I used pictures of other peoples' coops to come up with my design. Given the fact I've never had chickens or a coop, I thought I did pretty well. I still need to paint it. The basic framework. The wood I used for the siding was a partial box of flooring I got from the ReStore for $25. The windows on this side and above the nesting boxes are screened on the inside so I can leave them propped open during the summer for extra ventalation. The back of the nesting boxes opens for egg retrieval and easy cleaning. This side of the coop also opens for cleaning and maintenance. The run has a screen door on the front for entry and it's tall enough for me to stand in. My girls in their new home. :cd Hope it gives you a few ideas.
I love them!!! Great job !!!! :thumbsup

You did an awesome job! I can't believe you can find all of this for free or cheap. I'll have to start looking

Try checking out DMRippy -- look for her on the members pages. She has an incredible all pallet set up.

Meanie cockerel has fussed and complained all evening about being in jail. I gave him a firm talkin to every time I walked by him.

And I think I have been replaced by new little women.

The d'uccles we bought are definitely curious little critters. When any of us walk by they follow along and chatter away. When my hubby goes out they all run to their door. When he opens their door every one of those sassy little hens flies up onto his shoulders and just preen the mess out of him! He is just lapping up the attention. I wonder if he'd feel better if I preened him, too. "Oh honey, you're looking a little scraggly. Can I pluck your eyebrows for you dear?"

I took my nieces to the property yesterday. They live in town, so they love to come play farmer for the afternoon! I can't wait until the birds molt and the grass turn green again. I'll have to get my sister out there to take some better pics!

These pictures are so great! Beautiful!!!

Morni' La-yers and BYCers too

Another cool one again this mornin' I been coughing so much I strained a headache out feels like I'm bout to pop a main vein this morning. Come on warmer weather, please. I'm cooled down enough for a spell. I have been able to get some poopies spread about and tilled under in the garden spots the past couple of afternoons. It looks like I might get done in time for it to rain Sunday&Monday, LOL but that's okay I'm not about ready to set out or plant anything yet as there was frost on the windshields here yesterday morning and looks like Tues and Wed we will have lows back in the mid to low 30's so it is still a poss. of more frost still yet. I think I'll shoot for mid March to start in seeding and setting out plants, maybe safer by then. This is a strange spring as compared to late. Maybe we will have a springtime this year instead of 30s straight to 80/90 degree drought LOL

Beautiful pens everybody! That's hilarious about the d'uccles. Jeff hope you feel better soon -- I'm sure not going to complain when it gets warmer either. We got our garden rowed up yesterday. I have tomatoes, eggplants & peppers sprouting & hope to get them in the ground the end of the month, along w/the cukes & beans. Right now it's hedge-trimming time before all the wasps start building nests everywhere. Have a good one everybody!
