Yes, for some reason, flies just LOVE the color white! Another thing that works really good for flies is called blue marlin. You can get it at the feed store. It's little blue granules and it kills them. BUT, you need to put it somewhere where the birds can't get into it. We have used that in our barns for years. Also - I wonder if you could add some garlic to poultry diets. We give garlic to the horse, donkey, and dog. We usually don't have much of a fly problem, but it seems like this year they have been striking with a vengeance. It is too hot to breathe here in north LA, so I can imagine how it is down south, with the extra heat and extra humidity!
So, I took the plunge and ordered some "baby" diapers for the geese. They arrived yesterday and we tried them out last night. They were kind of funny. I thought that they were actually kind of cute and comical running around the living room wearing their little baby goose diapers. Meanwhile, Boudreaux, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, is sniffing them and checking them out and then they start following each other around the house. I don't know if the the geese think they are a dog or the dog thinks he is a goose, but it was pretty funny. Then Boudreaux got mad, pouted, and sulked when I put the babies up for the night. He actually slept next to the brooder box. Silly dog.
LemonMeringue - The pics are too cute! The bunny reminds me so much of my Arlo. He was the last bunny that I had. Flipping them on their back can put then to sleep or in a "trance". That was always fun to do. Looks like all your animals are spoiled, too!
MotherCluckinMe - what cute little fuzzy butts!!
Kuntrygirl - I guess that I have never thought about eating a guinea.... Don't know much about them, actually. Are they game-y tasting?
I hope that everyone stays COOL in this oppressive heat (and it's not even July/August yet!!). Hopefully there is some rain coming y'alls way. It is raining here in Shreveport!! YEAH! That just means that I don't have to cut the grass for a couple days.
