"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Quote: I bought a mister system at Sams a couple of years ago and never hooked it up. Let me know if your girls like it.

While working on the Egg Hut this evening I got these pics while the kids were playing with the chickens. This silly Houdan was just letting herself be held just like a baby. ~~~Rock-a-Bye-Tweety~~~

My eldest let the bunny have some playtime in the tall grass. The camera gave him red eyes! LOL! Then afterwards he was chilling out relaxing in my girls arms. He is such a sweet bunny.

My sister is scared to death of rabbits. Strange to me but I usually let her be. But when I realized this photo had come out with red eyes I couldn't help myself. I posted it on my fb and tagged my sis. Naughty I know, but funny non the less. She loves me dearly so I will be forgiven

We got the big door done on the Egg Hut earlier this evening. Yay! One more to check of the to do list.
Now that's some extra relaxed animals there.

Yes, for some reason, flies just LOVE the color white! Another thing that works really good for flies is called blue marlin. You can get it at the feed store. It's little blue granules and it kills them. BUT, you need to put it somewhere where the birds can't get into it. We have used that in our barns for years. Also - I wonder if you could add some garlic to poultry diets. We give garlic to the horse, donkey, and dog. We usually don't have much of a fly problem, but it seems like this year they have been striking with a vengeance. It is too hot to breathe here in north LA, so I can imagine how it is down south, with the extra heat and extra humidity!

So, I took the plunge and ordered some "baby" diapers for the geese. They arrived yesterday and we tried them out last night. They were kind of funny. I thought that they were actually kind of cute and comical running around the living room wearing their little baby goose diapers. Meanwhile, Boudreaux, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, is sniffing them and checking them out and then they start following each other around the house. I don't know if the the geese think they are a dog or the dog thinks he is a goose, but it was pretty funny. Then Boudreaux got mad, pouted, and sulked when I put the babies up for the night. He actually slept next to the brooder box. Silly dog.

LemonMeringue - The pics are too cute! The bunny reminds me so much of my Arlo. He was the last bunny that I had. Flipping them on their back can put then to sleep or in a "trance". That was always fun to do. Looks like all your animals are spoiled, too!

MotherCluckinMe - what cute little fuzzy butts!!

Kuntrygirl - I guess that I have never thought about eating a guinea.... Don't know much about them, actually. Are they game-y tasting?

I hope that everyone stays COOL in this oppressive heat (and it's not even July/August yet!!). Hopefully there is some rain coming y'alls way. It is raining here in Shreveport!! YEAH! That just means that I don't have to cut the grass for a couple days.

Got my eggs today from Catdance Silkies ! I am sooooo excited, hopefully second time will go a lot better than first. to top it off she gave me 6 extra. and she packaged them very safe and snug, I must have looked like the bomb squad diffusing a bomb. one at a time snipping a little with the scissors then sloooowly unwrapping the bubble wrap (which was a plus, had alotta fun with that after words love me some bubblewrap POP!) and placing each and every one and caaaaarefully in the cartons to settle.

Very funny video, had us all laughing too.

What would you ask for a young roo that you wanted to rehome?    And not a bird that you were especially attached too either.

How young is it?

$10.00 or more. Nothing less. Even though it is a rooster, it will benefit the buyer in some kind of way, whether it be breeding or eating. Don't let people fool you when they say, "It's just a rooster". Rooster MY EYE!!!! :smack I have sold a lot of my roosters for $20.00. ;) I personally do not sell them for less than $15.00. And I have no trouble selling them and I have returning customers.

LOL - I was the same way when I got my goosey eggs!!! I was like a little kid on Christmas morning. My husband was just looking at me crazy, but he does that all the time... That's what happens when a city boy marries Ellie Mae Clampet

. But, I was SLOWLY unwrapping them, and then inspecting them and making notes as I put them in the old egg carton to settle before setting. I certainly hope that you have so awesome luck with your shipped egg babies!! I know that I can't wait to hatch some more!

Are silkies in the video? If so, I'm too scared to watch it.
