I felt the same way last night: my "get up & go" got up & went, lol!!

But it is sure satisfying to look out the kitchen window & see progress has been made!

Slow today at work so I'm working on a diagram of my garden, deciding how many of what to plant where.

The little morons, I mean Marans, pulled all of the paper towel out of their little box inside the big brooder & shredded it into a zillion pieces. Wheee! they were having so much fun making a mess! had to laugh, watching them.

It is! I totally neglected my garden last year and worked on it in October trying to get rid of the weeds. Tilled alot, put down newpaper, mulch, etc. You wouldn't believe the weeds I have!!

I wish I could have did a diagram this year but I'll be honest and tell you I planted in the boxes that were easiest to weed out first!!

Now I have to weed out the rest!

I had that happen with my Barred Rocks year before last, layed some paper down and emptied their food container on it that didn't have much left and they were so cute they were dust bathing in it. Yeah, a few hours later I came out and they had shredded that stuff into a bagillion pieces!! Do you know how hard it is to pick up little pieces of paper off or hardware cloth?? I can tell you I didn't make that mistake again!!

Here is a pic of the baby gosling sticking its head from under the duck. This is the best that I could do. Mama was getting fussing and I didn't want to disturb her. I was able to remove the large goose egg shell for confirmation that it was indeed a gosling.

Aww that is an adorable gosling!

The turklets are cute, too! sounds like you had a busy night Julie. Congrats on a successful hatch!

I can't stand it, I am probably going to pull out my bator & set it up this weekend. I'm dying to know if my Ameracaunas are fertile. I only have the wheaton Am roo in there with them right now, so all the rest will be olive-eggers. I have somebody who wants to buy them so a good excuse to hatch, right?

They made it home!

O'Keefe Feed Store in Covington was wonderful! Great service, nice employees. I brought my 4 year old with me (he has special needs) and the man who worked there went above and beyond to make him comfortable and happy. He brought the box near my son and showed him the chicks, one at a time and told him about them. It is not often I meet strangers who are so kind to my special boy. I need to mail them a thank you note.

Ameracaunas sold out. We have 8 chicks, 2 of each: Barred Rock, Rhode Island, Buff Orpington and Black Sexlink.

Thanks. I"m not sure what type of goose. I was too tired last night to check my records. I placed different goose eggs under different ducks, so I have to see what I wrote on the calendar and I can let you know later. I'm hoping for more hatches today when I get home.

Julie that is SO cute!!
