Does anyone one have a few fertile eggs. O have a broody that I can't break. I don't even want chicks nor do I need them. I just bought 11 bitties that are 4 weeks old. Any suggestions.

Have you tried the cool cage method. By placing her in wire coop cage(open on the bottom for circulating air) just big enough for her and not much room for her to find a comfortable spot, place her but in there and feed her enough to get her by and of course always have plenty enough water this will take about 3-5 days and usually they will break and give in and go back to being normal, for how long ? that's a different story I have some not go broody for a long spell then some are back "hot to trot" in weeks![]()

So I've been hauling this small heavy pen up n down the stairs for the new chicks to get some grass time with the older girls...whee. n e ways...I was sittin out there n saw a bunch of wire grates and an old playhouse the hubby was juuuust talkin about getting rid of cuz the kids thrashed pieces and grew outta it, so it was just a box lol. Add some screws n wire and I have a playpen for the chicks when they get yard timehehehe hubby (contractor, constantly working on projects of grandness lol just smiled and shook his head.![]()

Welcome to the BYC and to our La-yers group. I'm on the southshore so not too far away. What do you have in your flock?
I honestly have no idea. I know many of the flock I just inherited from Houma are mutts. Dunno bout the ones I inherited from Franklinton, or the two orphans my boys found. I can tell you with utmost certainty, though, that they have two feet each, and feathers too! I could try to post pics of each, but there are more than twenty (I gave a few away), and Fred the rooster hates me with a passion. Lots of gray and gold ones that.lay green eggs. A few black and white checkered ones. Lots of red hens. And some blondies, too. Yeah, I so need a visit from a chicken guru! I'll leave a few pics I snapped today between storms.Great job. The black one is a Black Star or sometimes called a Black Sex Link. I have two and they are sweet birds and laying machines.I honestly have no idea. Our only black hen, and the two little ones my boys found on the side of the road.
