"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I went to a moving sale last weekend. I saw the rooster bowl and loved it. I also loved the chicken print. The bowl was a kitchen prop in the movie Pitch Perfect. Anyway, she said if I paid $15 for the bowl she would throw in the print for free. When I got home I looked closer at the print. Turns out it is a signed numbered Beth Cummings print worth several hundred dollars. It had authentication on the back. Go figure, I just liked the chickens.

The print. I was going to put it on the back porch, not now.

Signature and number.

I was excited, nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I just liked the chickens in the print. Lol

I love that. And you have it in a perfect spot. Great score on the find!

Could it be the rooster being too rough?  Any suggestions to try if it's gnats?

Thanks for your help,
Laurie

I put a vanilla tree car air freshener in my coop to keep mosquitoes out and found it keeps everything out.

Did it keep the chickens out as well? :lau

I use to use those but when I found that a chicken was using it for a necklace, I stopped. :lau

Crakednut on another thread this turned out to be lice. They said to check the vent at night with a flash lite. Unfortunately they didn't describe what the lice looked like. P

Nope, hung only one from the top of my coop. With all the animals there she had to do something to look prettier... I can't stand the smell of those things so I went light, I was going to replace the thing a few months ago when the smell died but it still seems to work. As long as it works, I'll leave it in there.

Lice are really hard to see until you have a bad problem. When it is bad I have seen pictures of crusty things on the bottom of the feather shaft. I got a girl that had lice when I bought her, I couldn't see them until I had a ball of them fall off her, they are microscopic sized and look like maggots. I have some I saved on a slide but my 10mp camera can't even pick them up on a picture. I have over 100 on the slide and they take up less room than a dime all laid out flat. The at night with a flashlight trick is for mites, I have never seen them in person and the pictures I have seen are bad so I don't know what they look like.

Bleach will not kill lice! I did an experiment to check, after 15 min they were still swimming in it. Poultry dust mixed with water will kill them in under 10 seconds for hard surfaces like the coop, but you want it to be dry on the bird as to not absorb in the skin.
