"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Sorry to hear about the spots. What you did is good.

You saw the spots this morning? Are all of the black scabs gone?
Thanks for confirming.

No black spots on either of these two girls. There is only one with a tiny bit of black left. I'm really convinced that it was gnats, etc. Those vanilla car tags really seem to work for us. My grumpy neighbor brought us more okra and asked me why my chicken coop smelled like vanilla? I said that there were worse things it could smell like...he agreed.

Ugh, last I heard our pound was awful and run by a ***** that enjoys killing animals. I knew someone that was going there everyday and taking pics. and giving the dogs attention, trying to get them adopted. One day there was a litter of puppies that could not have been more than 6 weeks old there. The next day when she came back.... no puppies. She asked the devil woman who said, oh they had heartworms. I had to put them down.

5-6 week old puppies CANNOT have heartworms. Another time my sister-in-law went to adopt only to be told by that devil that NONE of the dogs were adoptable. Full shelter. She left heartbroken and went to the humane society in Deridder and she told them what happened. They told her it was utter B.S. and made a few calls. EVERY dog there was adoptable. She ended up adopting from the humane society, but she could have saved one from the pound. I have heard more than once of dogs being "accidently" put down before the owners could retrieve them. Dogs she knew had owners coming for them.

You should have seen me changing a defunk pick up coil in the parking lot of O'Reilly's in leesville. The first replacement was not conducting like it should and was overheating so I used the warranty and replaced it. First they didn't like it because "your truck doesn't have one". Then "you can't pull that cap off, you'll ruin your timing". (so, they heard something and misunderstood, at least they knew it was a distributor but only because every spark plug wire ends up there) Then I asked my friend to bump it so I could get everything lined up to pull out the old and put new in. They about pulled me off that truck. Said it was unsafe to sit on the motor because I could get shocked or break it. I could hit that thing with a sledge hammer and if it was a lucky hit might crack the air intake but the motor???? no way! Then I pulled out the old part and gave it to them (discolored as heck for misconducting) and popped the new one in. They asked me if I had someone to get my truck out of their parking lot before closing. I said up, fired it up and left. Mind you I did this repair in a dress, that may have added to their stupidity but I highly doubt it.

Quick question:

Two of my girls have small bloody spots on their combs. I'm not sure if it was Horn Dog Harry or a pecking order issue.
What can I put on them? I have neosporin and I have lanolin 30% (use on horses). Or, is there something else you suggest?

Thanks,
Laurie

Do you have a rooster? One of my RIRs has a spot. I came from my rooster...um, "hugging" the hen.

I favor uprights as things tend to"drift" to the bottom of the chest types & get lost. That's a good price though! Wish I had room for another one.
I have several of both and I prefer my upright sub zero one the most. My uncle stored some deer meat in there in '08, when I went to clean it out last month I called him and asked if I could have it or it'll have to move. He said yes, it wasn't freezer burnt and it tasted as good as a kill from this year. Butcher paper and tape is all it was wrapped in. I couldn't begin to tell you what is on the bottom of my chest ones, too much time and energy to even try to figure it out.

Super 1 had put out more stuff on clearance this morning.

1/2 gallon milk was $0.75
1/2 gallon of buttermilk was $0.50
6 container pack of rice pudding was $0.50
pack of hash browns was $0.50

And the cream cheese is still $0.50. I picked up 2 more. I think I may get more and freeze them. I have to make room in my freezer as well as buy ANOTHER freezer. I have the freezer part at the top of my fridge and I have another chest freezer. I think I need either another chest freezer or an upright freezer. The chest freezers are $169.00 at Sam's.

You can freeze cream cheese?

You know it. On the bright side I do have a great mechanic. I call him and tell him what unusual tools I need, he brings them over and sits on the porch with a beer waiting to hear "hold here". He is an old fart with his own shop and has helped me with some pretty big projects before. All it costs me is one beer, can't go wrong with that. He does, however, always bring 4 very different sizes of hammers. He says most things can be fixed with the right size hammer and some duct tape. I have to admit, it never fails.

Oh yes, we have Horn Dog Harry. I've been back and forth about keeping him. However, since he's being too rough with the girls, I think it's time for him to go. He will likely be going to freezer camp. Not my freezer, as he was named before we knew he was a rooster, and I can't eat something I named.
