"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

So, I had a box full of Dark Cornish Bantams delivered today. I ordered these from an APA judge and breeder in Oregon this spring: With the recent temperature drop, he was able to ship them yesterday. I ordered a quad and he threw in an extra bird for free!

I LOVE these little guys: So soft, great heads, and wonderful feathering!

Very pretty. So sleek and elegant looking.

Prim: They are between 6-7 months old. Right now they are about as tall as they will get, but should get wider with age.

Thanks Cracked! This breeder is known for the feather quality. The body types need a bit more width and the eyes aren't pearl (hard to actually get a Cornish with the correct eye color), but personally I think they are gorgeous!
MrsMagoo those are beautiful!
Thank you Lemon!

They die from dehydration. Luckily I've never had a dog have it but I've been around dogs all my life. My parents were breeders .I've Learned from them and read many books on dogs before I bought my first one. I wish more people would read first and buy or adopt after.

I bought a little Yorkie from a puppy mill (before I knew what one was). She was "guaranteed". Well, within a couple of days she was very sick. The vet said it was parvo. Supposedly the puppy had been vacinnated before I bought it. I called the seller and the seller said I could bring it back and get another one. Well, I wasn't going to do that for many reasons mostly because I knew they would just let that little puppy die. So, the puppy was in the vet for TWO weeks clinging to life. I would visit her after work each day so she would know me. When I took her home I had to cook rice and lean chicken for her, but she was sick again within 24 hours. Back to the vet. Finally she was back home on home cooked food. My schnauzer must have sensed her frailty because he made it his life work to protect her. It was VERY expensive but she was a lovely little girl. She always was a bit frail and was on medication and well known by vets where ever I lived. Finally One day when she was back at the vet, they called me and said she was flat lining off and on and recommended she go to LSU vet. I asked if anything could be done. They said "no". I said, then she'll die with me and not at the vet. She lived one more day and died in her sleep in my bed. She lived 10 years. Now I know about puppy mills and stores that use them. Also, about parvo. It's all so sad. I'm crying even writing this and remembering.

How sad. At least you had 10 wonderful years with her. My gretchen also had parvo. The bad part was I couldn't affort at the time a large vet bill. I kept her on pedilite for over a week and some how nursed her back to health. She is my aviator. She is now about 6 years old.

You did the right thing!! They are sick from the parvo, but dehydration is what kills them. Who knows if you went to the vet the outcome might not be so good. The meds plus the dehydration might have been too much on her system. I'm happy, happy, happy that you saved your faithful friends life. I'm sure she's shown you the love for it. :D Pam
