Your 2026 Garden

has anyone here ever used something like these? and what was your experience? View attachment 4289873
We had bought something like this but about 1/3 of the size. It's for my herb garden of just annuals. This will be my second year. I don't think we should have left it out in the garden though. We'll see if it held up.

My family says that I am too hard to buy gifts for and I told them all you have to do is buy me something for the garden or the chickens and ducks. I'm excited with that
I always say pretty solar lights. They're for the chickens, kind of, but mostly me. We've got a ton of solar motion and dusk to dawn solar lights around here, so I like some pretty ones once in a while. 😊

thank you. they do rust but i still use them anyway (for some things). rusty and all 😂
Binder clips last two seasons before they rust through and break. I ordered some, as I didn't want metal pieces I missed all over the yard.

These work okay and have lasted a few years but I don't think we have half of those plastic tips anymore. At least they're bright colored lol.

Those are okay if you clamp something and leave it, but we move plexiglass panels around sometimes daily to block wind for the growout pens. So the on off, on off, those plastic things pop off, and you put them back on. A bit tedious.

yes! i have bigger ones of those i use for other things. i know exactly what you mean!

I am reminded I was going to write to my local government to complain that that law is dumb and needs to be repealed.

For context:
Currants aren’t the only host for the White Pine Blister Rust, so are snapdragons and the Indian Paintbrush.

The Indian Paintbrush is a native plant, and its range looks like this:
Map of the United States showing states. States are colored green where the species may be found.

New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts are all in there! And as far as I can tell snapdragons have no restrictions on importing them. So why single out currants?

Add to that, there now exist rust-resistant varieties of BOTH white pines (‘Paton's Silver Splendor‘) and currants (the list of those is long enough I will just link the site here).

In short, the restriction was never going to work and we are way past the point where it should have been struck from the books.

these all have to be replaced.
i don't even want to plant stuff until they are. they are just breaking up and caving in.
That is a lot of organization right there - something that's never been my strong suit.

Brother made a couple out of galvanized roofing panels and lumber from rot resistant locust he had growing. Each bed used 3 panels, one of which he cut in half to end up with 8 x 4 beds. If yours don't already come with center supports to keep the long panels from bowing, I suggest adding them before putting in the soil.

I use the plastic garden clips from amazon. They're reusable and useful for any number of projects out there from holding together bird netting to attaching climbing plants onto supports to hanging sticky traps or small decorations. You get a few hundred for very little money.
