Hey La-yers, I have a honey-pot full of reds (Production Reds, RIR) whatever you perfer to call them by, red chickens that lay lots of big brown eggs. ON SALE will make someone a good deal on these chicks esp. if they take them all (50) or so looks like. Will have to pick them up as I have no way to ship them but still yet worth the effort and trouble. I'll put my word on it they are from very good stock and have the proof to show as I have refrigerator plum full of eggs and more sitting around in buckets awaiting thier turn to be placed in their rightful spot on the refrigerator shelves. Any way if interested contact me here or through email cause this weekend they are going to auction because I have too many now and got more in the bator as we speak.

I just love goslings -- they are so cute!
PM'd you on the BLRWs. My 79 yr old Mom saw some on TV & thought they were the prettiest things ever. Might make a nice Mother's Day present for her!

Still cool-ish here today but warming up nicely & my garden didn't get beat up TOO bad by the storms. Hope you all are doing well!

I surely wish that I could get some but my plans for the 2011 Spring hatching has gone all wrong. All of the single hatches, lone birds/ducks/geese took up all of my brooder space and I have no more room. I have broody girls that I need to move right now and I can't because babies have take up space. They are ok for now because they are in the chicken house but I have to move them ASAP. This is the craziest hatching year that I have EVER had.

VERY cool-ish out there indeed. I had to bring my Tom turkey in last night because he seems to get sick as soon as the temps drop. I have been working with him for about 4 weeks now and I can't afford for him to get another respiratory problem. His wry neck has not budged. This is the most stubborn case of wry neck that I have EVER seen. I have been able to cure him before in the past but this is getting frustrating. The thing is he is still eating, drinking, running around, strutting his stuff and having fun with his girls but his neck is still twisted. I will be taking him to the vet in Lake Charles on Saturday morning to let the vet look at him. I'll be leaving out at 6:00 AM to get there early enough so that I can be the first person in line. If they can't do anything, then I will be off to LSU School of Vet Medicine. I talked to LSU Monday and they said that Dr. Thomas Tully will take a look at him.

I was wondering how he was doing. I sure do admire you for hanging in there with him! I only had one case of wry neck in a newly hatched chick & I ended up losing it. Hope you get some answers from the vet.

I'm ready for it to warm up & STAY warm. The cold really does a number on my knee. I wonder if it'll always be like this from now on, when it gets cold?

Still haven't gotten my NPIP number; guess I'll have to call & find out who lost it.
