The guy kept trying to say as we walked off how much more expensive a goat from a private breeder would be, but in my opinion it could cost a lot more to buy a unhealthy animal low then a healthy animal in the long run. With a few exceptions, you generally get what you pay for with animals (except most "designer" dogs. Sorry guys if any of you are fans but I cannot understand spending 500-600 dollars on a mixed breed dog because someone made up a kind of cute but unoriginal name for it... but that's another rant)and great deals often don't end up so great. You know we even asked on the phone if they were socialized animals and if they were good with children. Man that guys nerve! I doubt those animals have been handled for any reason other then hauling them there. I have never been to livestock auction barn before, but I won't be going back. We shoulda just drove on home after he stepped out long enough to point us to the barn but we had driven all that way...

I have two designer dogs: a poohuahua (or also called a chioodle) and a morky. They were rescues and the "designer" mix was an accident. Lol. But I figured mine are as designer as I want them to be. Lol

Ah, that's different. Those are rescue dogs! Nothing silly about rescuing a dog! It's paying hundred for a intentionally mixed breed puppy that annoys me.

I don't go to livestock auctions because of how tightly they pack different people's animals together not knowing the health of any one group. You would think they would need vet records or a checkup for the health of the group but they don't. I have seen too many people bring home something that looks healthy just to find out that they picked up something from another owners animals. Good luck on finding a good healthy breed.
