Welcome back! We've missed you!
Thanks, I miss you guys, too! Just been trying to find a good doctor, in case I need one, since so many good ones are retiring, because of Obamasyde! Also fall is a busy time around the farm and I'm not as fast as I used to be, getting the chores done. I have been dabbling into a little chemistry lately and also stocking up the pantry for the winter. First I had to clean out the pantries, to fit more in and you know how it goes when you start cleaning out closets! LOL Haven't harvested enough turkeys yet and the new rabbit pavilion got postponed to do needed work on the equipment and Hubby is tooling up his shop, so I have everything else lately. I hope to be around more often, but I am usually on night shift while you guys are on days!

G'mornin.
So rough, rushed day so far.
Finally get 2 minutes of free time. Sit on the porch, with my coffeen a smoke. It's calm, Warmer than yesterday and quiet.

AND THEN...

I almost pee'd myself.
A roo that's never crowed decided now was time to practice. The video is for the sound he kept making not its picture quality lol sorry. Then hens haven't been around roos lol they were so alert n nervous!
In the video he's perched in the rafters. He's scared of me. Lol. At least I now know 100%.

Hahaha. Sounds like me singing.

I know it is possible to make money selling eggs and chicks, but why do people seem to think you can do it within a month of starting chickens? Lately, I have come across quite a few posts that seem to think you can buy chicks, hatch about 100 a week and still sell eggs all within a month of starting chicken keeping. Am I the only one that has seen those people at trade days go home with almost all of the chicks they came with several weekends in a row? Also, do they know the cost in proper chicken keeping? I know mine are quite spoiled, but even without it they are not the cheapest pet in the world.

TGIF! And it’s warmer, Whoo-hoo!!!
Tonight is linguine with shrimp & artichoke hearts for supper.
Tomorrow going out to the nurseries in Forest Hill to buy a blood orange & meyer lemon & strawberry plants.
Taking my Mom shopping for a new Christmas tree and Thanksgiving dinner.
Giving the dogs trims and baths.
I love weekends!

I know nothing about strawberries, but was thinking about starting with one plant. When is the planting and harvesting time? Do they do ok with frost or do you have to cover them?

Pam, how is your little girl?? My prayers have been with you.

She is still alive. Still trying to pass the egg. She will eat yogurt sill not eating her feed. I'm going to try the heating pad as a heat treatment instead of the warm soak. I guess being in a box in my utility room and all the extra attention and warm baths has kept her going. I sure hope today is the day it comes out. Thank you to everyone for praying for us! Pam

Disclaimer: I have never dealt with this before.

I have read on some posts here that letting them walk a little bit in the house (if they want to) and feeding them a tiny bit of oil helps as well. I have never tried either before as I have not had this problem, it's just something I remember reading. I hope she drops it soon.
