Mike, I candled my turkey egg --- and --- YES!! I've got a baby!
I don't know what momma goose is doing with her Pekin eggs. She stayed on the nest for a whole week but now she seems to stay off the nest more than she stays on it. I don't think she's serious about hatching these eggs. I'm going to go out and candle them this evening to see if there's any development.
Also, I have three saddleback eggs in the incubator that are developing and are due to hatch the first week in May. Hopefully, my re-engineered bators will do a better job than the stillairs did. So far -- so good! I think one of the problems that I've been having with the goose eggs in the Little Giants is that because the eggs are so large they end up being too close to the heating element. This electronic thermostat creates a very gentle warm breeze across the eggs. I'm convinced it should improve the hatches for my geese.
