"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Will someone explain to me how this is a good idea. A 13yr old boy gets suspended from school. So his mom locks him outside on this cold morning. Light jacket and shorts. Then leaves for the day. That's part of his punishment. She told him the police can't come in the backyard and NOT to go to his grandmas down the street.

And I thought it was bad this summer when this lady did stuff like this.

What happened to making them work hard around the house when they got in trouble? My dad used to give me something harder than the last to do every time I got in trouble. It started with shoveling poo and ended with building an addition to the house. I learned a lot while in trouble and had a few sore mussels to show for the work.

I only disagree slightly. What he'll learn is that normal parenting includes abuse, that behavior, real or imagined, justifies hurting a child. Abusive parents usually results in their children growing up to be abusive even though they hated the abuse (joyfully there are exceptions). Like we have said before that there is a place in hell for those people.

I only say that because I suffered some pretty severe abuse myself. I would never do anything that was done to me to my own child. Too often the cycle of abuse to sadly continued, but not always. The damage will always be there, but after a point you can only blame yourself for your actions. I wouldn't go back and undo anything that happened, even the bloody, ugliest of it. After all, it led to the life I have and I wouldn't trade that for a "normal" childhood. I just hope that boy can walk away from this with HIS head above the water and that he finds the support to keep going.

Large fowl from Chris!
High noon Jeff - and you're always welcome!
Chris's birds are so big you could saddle & ride 'em! You have some of them don't you?
Sweet you will love the(Mohawks) RIRs they are awesome, Oh there having Thanksgiving here this Sat. I don't know where I'll be yet on the Thanksgiving Thurs. maybe at Vernon lake or maybe even Simmesport.

Hey Terri when you hatch all those out RIR's keep us updated. No I don't have Mohawks(I have Horstman reds) yet, on my list though as soon as I get some other previous projects underway LOL and thin down the herd here, its enormous. Now everbodies putting on their new garb(plumage) or 'bout too and it makes it even harder to decide "who's a stayin' or who's a leavin'", know what I mean? If you will I want first dibs on the extra boys after you pick you keeper(s) I can come help you if you need an extra set of eyes in determining the best suitor(s) for your choice(picks) you gonna be a breeder? or just for eye-candy? These reds need all the help they can get to be spread out in the wide world of Reds. They are some of the best and the guy(Matt) that Chris got some of his start ups from, wins "darn neart ever" show he enters (big wins too), not just best breed or class, usually best of show like he did in BR. 1st in one show 2nd in another, his own Black Australorp beat out his Red boy in the other show so it was still win win for him.
Okay holler atcha later on

Jeff

PS forgot my manners right away, Thanks for the invite, maybe someday I will take you up on it LOL

It's been a few months since I last ran. And now with the time change, I won't be able to run on the road or ride my bike. So, I'm on my elliptical now. In January, my old gym will be having their annual New Year's Eve special and I think I will join to take the cycling classes. I love to cycle.

Omg omg omg. I did day 1 on the app today. I love the app. I have over 100 of my favorite songs downloaded to my phone and I add regularly. I can play my music and simultaneously run the app. It tells me when to run and when to walk, encourages me, love the graphics and it tells you when to do it again and shows progress. This was made for me. I ran today for the first time in 30 years and I really could do it. It assumes you are out of shape and can't do much. And it says if it is possible to run slower, you are running too fast. Haha. Love that. The treadmill was set a good bit slower than I normally walk on it and bec I walk so fast on it normally, this actually didn't feel stressful, and you only do a very slow run for no more than 1 minute at a time. The app was only $2.99. Of course, check with me later when it demands more from me. I might just stay at day one for a nice little 30 minute workout. Lol. I am so amazed. I did it. Woohoo!!

THIS is what works and needs to be implemented. Work. **** Hard work.
If we got in trouble at grandmas, whose home was perfectly clean :/ we would have to go "paint the fence" - a 50ft wood fence grandpa made with cinderblocks and recycled boards. Double sided and a can of whatever free paint her could find or grandma's whitewash and a painting we had to do. Ug.
But as we grew outta the trouble (getting caught lol) stages that same fence was used to paint for $$. Money. $5-$10 could be earned in a weekend for the kids who took initiatives and painted the fence lol
Later all 9 grandkids pitched in to paint their home :)
It worked :)

This is the season where I like to go for walks. A nice sweater and jacket, and I'm good and comfy. No such easy fixes in summer. Though my family has nearly been attacked by a big mix dog that's allowed to roam freely by its owners. Last time a car swerved between us and the dog to stop the dog. We called the sheriff's department and animal control, but they aren't doing anything. It doesn't matter if the dog is technically contained by a "wireless fence" if the d**** thing can not only leave its property but get across the road.

Good morning La-yers! Kind of chilly here too but worse is coming – we’re supposed to have highs in the 50s by Sunday. Good gumbo weather! I think duck and sausage this time!

What’s everybody doing for Thanksgiving? We’re having ham and brisket. Broccoli with hollandaise sauce & crushed Ritz cracker crumbs on top, mixed green salad, rum carrots, dressing, deviled eggs, phyllo pastry w/spinach & artichokes, rolls, desserts will be pies-pecan, mince, lemon chiffon
We roast a turkey in a big green egg. I make everything from scratch. Corn bread dressing with some dried fruit and chestnuts added. sweet potato casserole I bake all the sweet potatoes mash add grade b maple syrup some O J 2 eggs cinnamon and nutmeg. I top it with a crumble topping. Once I had pralines that I crushed and used for the topping that was good too. Roasted brussel sprouts with pancetta and parmesan. Green bean casserole made with fresh green beans, mushrooms etc. I make dinner roles or bread. Ron has to have pumpkin pie every year. I'll make red velvet cake or a dessert called cherries berries on a cloud. Now I just made myself hungry. Pam:lol:

Good morning. It is a great morning. Inside temps were 64 degrees. NICE. I didn't bother turning on the heater. I just bundled up with a sweater inside. No need wasting heat to warm up.

Duck and sausage gumbo sounds great!

I'm hoping to have a quiet Thanksgiving and I'm hoping that my brothers and sisters don't call me and ask me to go their house for Thanksgiving.

I just want to lay in bed and watch the Lifetime, Snapped and Oxygen channels with no interruptions. I will be off Thursday and Friday and I want to enjoy my LONG weekend. As far as menu, I think I want turkey soup with a lots of vegetables.

Your menu sounds delicious.

I was finally able to get my pumpkin pies baked. I will most likely freeze a couple of them and give the rest away. I have no more room in the freezer.
Now by staying in bed, how are you going to manage getting 3 fire pits from Wally World on black Friday? Do you have a personal shopper, stashed somewhere?
Do you pluck or skin your ducks?
I love cooking duck fat, but hear it is also very healthy in a soap, with the antioxidants and omega 3, being absorbed right through the skin ! I might need to raise more ducks again, just for the fat! No wonder ducks sell so fast!
