"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

We are hoping to have a nice Smoked Turkey dinner here at home. We love lots of different family favorites. But we may try to stretch them out this year. We love dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, deviled eggs, green beans, STUFFING (YUMMMMM), bread, relish trays, homemade cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, fudge pie, apple pie, pumpkin cheesecake, caramel cheesecake or just cheesecake with toppings.........ya, we would be sick if we ate all that!!!! I probably forgot something, lol. Our anniversary is the 30th so we can just celebrate for a few days in a row ;)

Same thing I thought of too I'd be at Grandmas lickty split, me, and usually the reprocusions from that move weren't/or wouldn't be all that bad either Gma and esp Grandaddy most everbody walked the chalk line around them even the parents LOL no not a good punishment for sure he should have to stay inside an do his dammed schoolwork or something of the likes that he would have been missing today at school, that would have killed me I hated homework terribly bad myself.

Jeff
Mine would be doing their homework and then writing an assay of X number of words, explaining what happened, why it should not have and how he/she was planning to make sure it did not happen again, with the rest of the day and have their room, spotless when I got back home. Plenty to think about and kids hate assays and housework. After all, idle hands will get them into more trouble and kids that age should be keeping their own rooms clean, anyway! My Mom, who would have worked me the whole day, without a minute's rest and ground me for 6 months, including no TV or radio(the only electronics, back then), with my kids, would have done their chores for them! Grandma's tend to be too lenient, IMO! If he convinced neighbors he is being mistreated, he probably talk a good story to turn Grandma, to feeling sorry for him. If he is anything like the 13 year olds, I see today, they will be in shorts, that have to be held up with one hand, because they want to let everyone see his drawers and how kool he is, with flip flops on and no socks, in below freezing weather all winter, in spite of their Mom's providing adequate clothing!
Being a little old lady, I get a kick out of seeing these kool ones in Wal-Mart or someplace and telling their mother's how sorry I feel that they are homeless and have to share their Father's clothes and in a very sincere voice, offer to buy him a pair of socks and a belt of his very own! Moms will tell them, "see, I told you nobody thinks dressing like homeless kids showing off your drawers, is looking kool !" Then I will give Mom a little wink and get one back, usually! Even if they don't, I get away with the comment, cause I'm a little old granny who looks old enough to have dated Moses in my day! LOL

I only disagree slightly. What he'll learn is that normal parenting includes abuse, that behavior, real or imagined, justifies hurting a child. Abusive parents usually results in their children growing up to be abusive even though they hated the abuse (joyfully there are exceptions). Like we have said before that there is a place in hell for those people.
Well, I had a nosey neighbor call Chile protection Services on me, once, because my stepdaughter was bored that I had to stay at work, (We owned and operated a Marina/ store/ bait shop/ boat hoist) and could not take her shopping and would not let her drive my car at 13 years old, to go shopping by herself. You know all 13 year olds think they can drive and a license is just a formality! Well, Linda when they got there and she told them that she was bored and mad at me for mistreating her, by telling her I loved her, but I did not love the way she was acting and no she was not getting my car keys, they got very red in the face and went to talk to the neighbor who had already called her birth Mom, to add to her little Drama! Yes and that's just the tip of the iceberg of what devious kids are taught "Are their rights" to get their parents to give into them through fear and blackmail ! I am sure you have seen the other side of the coin, too, as have I, but it's not always the parents abusing the kids!

What happened to making them work hard around the house when they got in trouble? My dad used to give me something harder than the last to do every time I got in trouble. It started with shoveling poo and ended with building an addition to the house. I learned a lot while in trouble and had a few sore mussels to show for the work.
THAT is certainly considered abuse, by some of our society, today, to make a child work! You would be surprised to hear what some kids are being taught to do to blackmail their parents into doing the kids bidding ! I raised 2 of my own, that knew, I was the parent and even though, no one makes the right decisions 100% of the time, it was their best interest that I had in mind, 100% of the time and they are good responsible members of society, have careers, nice homes, good kids(like they were, but would require the occasional slap with a fly swatter), law abiding adults, raising their own, the same way. But shortly after getting married to new hubby, we were given custody of his 10 year old daughter, who could convince anyone, she was a Saint and everyone who did not yield to whatever she wanted, was Satan! She was that convincing! Only personally having to deal with child protection, from both sides of the fence, because this kid liked drama, did I learn what can happen when you try to even reprimand a teen ager! I could tell you stories that would make you cringe! We got custody, because she said Mom's boyfriend was sexually molesting her. She even had cops crying as she told them the details, on camera! This child liked attention and made up the story, because my grandson was just born and he was getting more attention than her. Later, when hubby's grandson was born, she cane close to hurting the infant, because he stole her spotlight! Kids can be psychopaths, too!
