Hi Julie, How's Mr. Turkey doing?

Mr. Turkey is doing great. He still has the wry neck. He has completed his meds. I just wait until the day that his neck will straighten out. I think positive although the vet says that it is permanent.

Congrats on your new turkey!

You will have fun with your turkey. I hope that you don't have any of the problems that I had but turkey owners can't avoid the problems in turkeys. Poults (baby turkeys) are THE most difficult babies to raise. When your baby hatches, will it be with other chicks or will it be alone? Have you decided what gamebird feed you'll be feeding it? What percentage of protein? Once it gets older, keep an eye on it's behavior. Anything left unnoticed could end in disaster.

I don't mean to scare you but I'm just speaking from years of experience with turkeys.

Thanks for asking about Mr. Turkey.

I set 22 eggs yesterday evening & got up this morning to find my auto-turner's gone wonky on me. It tilted so far over that the 2nd row of eggs fell out of it. I removed all the eggs, disconnected & took it out, & put the eggs back in.

I think I'm going to pull all except the very bluest eggs & just hand turn those. I know some of them are from Eagle's mate Falcon & so pure wheaton Ameracaunas, & the others are from Georgette & Gracie, my black Cree Ameracaunas. All 3 of them lay pretty blue eggs, no green.
I really want to build up my wheatons -- & blue orps - orps won't start laying until later this year.

Hand-turning. Blech. But- whatever it takes. I hope Jim can fix my turner! I can't imagine what's going on w/it. It's never tilted like that before...

Congrats on all the new babies!

Yum- crawfish! haven't had any yet this year. Maybe Friday we'll get some!

Good mornin' LA-yers figured i'd stop by and give a shout out atcha'll still have around 50 or so Pro red biddies for sale 2weeks old would make someone a smokin' deal on them esp. if all were purchased at once 'cause I got approx. 75 BSL's due to hatch this coming weekend. contact me here, by e-mail or the old fashioned way at (318) 565-4095 if no answer leave a message and I WILL return your call.

I here ya on the broodies but I'm in it for the long haul as mine have prolly just got started I only have about 36 whatchamacallits that are prone to going hot at any given moment. Have to say I'd much rather them do the hatching and rearing than me having to do it in brooders its a constant worry and dedicative job for sure, they do it like its no big bother, in fact sort of reminds me of some other pregnant females seems thats when they are their happiest. Oops

well Julie,..I'll take all ya got! I'm sick of incubators,.. I don't get any sleep and they can fail on ya!

just lost a whole hatch of SPPR's (that I had been waiting on for months!) because when that bad weather came thru a couple of weeks ago,.our electricity went out for hours when an old Katrina tree finally fell on a line down the road. I kept incubating them but candled last night to find they all stopped growing at about 10 days,.(when the lights went out) and I'm sick,.. the temp got down to 74 for along time,.. too long I guess.

so send those broody vibes on and thanks so much!!!

Jeff, I'm drooling at the fact of possibly getting some of those chicks that we talked about but my plans for the "extra" room that I had has been shot to pieces.

This has been an unusual hatching year for me. I have been taking care of more babies on my own than I ever have before.

I did my spring count of animals last night and I am up to 205 animals. I am WAY over populated. That is a LOT of work for 1 person and I am exhausted and burnt out.
