Here are some of the activities that will be going on during the weekend that I'm going.

That sounds like a lot of fun! Thats one of my good childhood memory's riding around in our old station wagon looking at Christmas lights. Pam

Anyone going to Natchitoches, LA to see the Christmas lights?

Eh, I dunno. We use to live in Natchitoches until about 1 1/2 ago. It's pretty much the same thing every year. A lot of the decorations they put up over the river are the same ones as when I was a toddler. It can be grande for someone who isn't use to it though. They normally have horse drawn carriages they will pull you around the block with this time of year- kind of expensive but can be enjoyable. The fireworks are good, but if you go early to get a decent spot and make sure you don't get where those big trees will block your view. Also parking can be a huge pain, and the traffic afterwards crazy. Some of our college friends live near Front Street. Did you know the police told them they had to move their car by morning or it would be towed? They were fine with complying until they learned it was so strangers could park in front of their house and they were expected to park elsewhere and walk home in the cold so a tourist could park there. The city really treats the residents like crap when holidays come around. They want that tourist money.....

WAIT WHAT?!!!! Just read the schedule you posted. ADMISSION TO FRONT STREET?!!!!! WHAT? NO! D**** if they haven't gotten greedier. Over 20 years I have been going to that and now they are charging to walk on the street?! let me change my maybe to no!

:yuckyuck

LOL @ change your maybe to no. :lau

The times that I have gone, I don't remember paying to get in either. I don't go ever year but I try to go every 5 years or so.

I'm with you on that one we have Christmas in the Oaks at city Park in New Orleans . They charge too Where's the Christmas spirit? What about people who can't afford it? I had more fun as a kid riding in the family car looking at people's houses that were decorated that was free. Pam

Ours was red! I loved that old car. It was great for the drive in too. We would get in the back with pillows and blankets and watch the movie!!!

The cost of admission is minimal. However, I do understand some people won't be able to afford it. But there are other activities that are free that they can attend. They are providing musical entertainment, so that's probably one reason they are charging admission ( I assume). I'm sure throughout the gazillion years they have been having it, the crowds have quadrupled, so I'm sure they have had to hire more officers to work during this time and that costs money. I'm sure the security/police officers are working this festival to bring in extra money for their families for Christmas and they probably wouldn't want to work for free and volunteer their Christmas spirit. I know I sure wouldn't want to. :/

I did call them to see why they are charging and they said it helps pay for the cost of the festival which I understand. The cost for admission is only $5.00.

Musical entertainment is someone named Frank Foster, who I have no idea who he is. I see why he is "Louisiana's best kept secret". No one knows who he is. :lau Someone named Lainey Wilson will also be performing. Don't know who that is as well.

Born and raised in north Louisiana, Frank Foster is a rising star on the Country music scene and has been referred to as “Louisiana’s best kept secret” by NashvilleGab.com. Don’t miss the chance to see Frank Foster perform on the banks of beautiful Cane River.

We generally drive up one evening to admire the lights but don’t go to the other stuff. We like to drive around & look at houses in town, too.

I was in that parade when I was a kid – part of a dance troupe.

Your right! Those fireworks cost money too. Plus the insurence they have to have etc. It's a small price for the fun. I forgot myself for a min. I own a company everything cost money. Pam
