"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I Dream 0f Chickens *Ü* :

DD's teacher is going to load up his incubator tomorrow. I ordered some eggs from IL that *should* come in tomorrow. Does anyone have any tips for incubating shipped eggs?

sure do---almost all of my current flock I hatched from shipped eggs.

Put those eggs in cartons somewhere & let them rest for 24 hours -- big side up! pointy side down!

then you can set them inyour 'bator. They need to "settle" from their trip.

Look in the BYC "hatching section" for stickied articles (at the top of the thread) for hatching info. There's a ton of it.

One thing; when you candle, do not be freaked out by strange looking air cells; shipped eggs frequently have them. Honestly? I give mine the 'sniff test' - as I candle, I sniff -- if anything smells "off" then I pitch it -- but never pitch one just because it doesn't look exactly like the perfect pictures of a perfectly incubating egg, because I've had more than one chick hatch from a weird shaped air cell.

Good luck & sending positive hatching vibes to you!

Are they watching the eagle's nest in Va? I can send you the link to it if you want. Let me know. I'll be back online in the morning. There's a link to it somewhere here but I forget where.

AmyLou, we need that link to your daughter's article!

Here, somebody just sent me this one:

The year is 2016 and the United States has just elected the first woman, a Louisiana State University graduate, as President of the United States , Susan Boudreaux.

A few days after the election the president-elect calls her father and says, 'So, Dad, I as sume you will be coming to my inauguration?'

'I don't think so. It's a 30 hour drive, your mother isn't as young as she used to be, and my arthritis is acting up again.'

'Don't worry about it Dad, I'll send Air Force One to pick you up and take you home. And a limousine will pick you up at your door.'

'I don't know. Everybody will be so fancy. What would your mother wear?'

Oh Dad, replies Susan , 'I'll make sure she has a wonderful gown custom-made by the best designer in New York .

'Honey,' Dad complains, 'you know I can't eat those rich foods you and your friends like to eat.'

The President-to-be responds, 'Don't worry Dad. The entire affair is going to be handled by the best caterer in New York , I’ll ensure your meals are salt free Dad, I really want you to come.'

So Dad reluctantly agrees and on January 20, 2017, Susan Boudreaux is being sworn in as President of the United States .

In the front row sits the new president's Dad and Mom. Dad noticing the senator sitting next to him leans over and whispers, 'You see that woman over there with her hand on the Bible, becoming President of the United States.’

The Senator whispers back, 'Yes I do.'

Dad says proudly, 'Her brother played football at LSU.'

I have boys.

It is not online. My son's service dog was denied access by his school. They had an article in the Daily Star. However, articles involving pending court cases are never posted.

I'm sorry -- didn't mean to assume it was about a girl!

So that just sucks about the service dog being denied-- what happened? Why?
I know, because there are a lot of people out there still wallowing in their own ignorance.

AmyLou, Being a Special Ed. Teacher that really does surprise me. Did you show the documents of the dogs training, and background to the school officials? With the proper documentation of proper training as a service dog I don't think they can really deny your son to have his dog. If I had documentation of a professional service dog for my disabled child, and had refused entry, I would be court bound too. Good Luck to you!

Don't worry about assuming girls. No worries!

Legally speaking, under the ADA, you are not required to show any documentation, pay fees, sign waivers, etc. They are saying that the dog is not needed, but she and my boy have rights. And you are right, they absolutely can not deny access to his dog.

My chicks are mini-hens now. So big! And I have a Barred Rock roo.
