"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

So far I really like the combo. They mixed with an Aveda base called Chakra 6. However, just the three smelled great together. She did a a little heavier patchouli, then a little less lavender and the least amount of vanilla. I think I might be interested in playing with the amount of vanilla, as that is a scent I like and don't get headaches from.

Most people that get headaches from scents can tolerate a pure therapeutic food grade essential oils. I have a blend called m-graine it's used to help migraines . I don't like strong synthetic smells or overly strong smells. I have a sensitive nose. I hate the smell of ciggeretts I can smell someone that has smoked a mile away even if it was an hour ago. Pam

OMG I'm outside of Shreveport. Where do you live again? Hmmm?

Lol! Big Daddy already took them to the party. I hope he doesn't bring ANY home! Then I will make a gluten free one and freeze part of it in single serve pieces. For some reason if its in the freezer it gets looked over by the kids

I used our home grown carrots for the carrot cake!

Wow those are some absolutely gorgeous cakes!

Christmas is the one time of the year Mom & I don’t bake. We treat ourselves to cakes from Atwood’s Bakery. One coconut cake and one dobache (not sure how you spell it) cake.

Tonight I’m making broccoli cheese casserole for the office party tomorrow. I might do a batch of Southern pecan crescents this weekend & maybe some biscotti. Jim will make pizzelles in several different flavors. (Cookies don’t count as ‘baking’)!

Christmas dinner is traditionally prime rib roast, mushroom rice, mixed green salad, my last jar of pickled beets, rolls & the cakes. Appetizers will be deviled eggs and ham/asparagus rollups.
Thanks! Broccoli Cheese casserole sounds awesome! Its been awhile since I have had that.

Now I know why your daughter is into art. Beautiful !! But you have reminded me I need to get to work. thanks Pam
Time is running away from us this year!

I LOVE Patchouli! I can just smell it straight. Seems like its a love or hate opinion that people have with Patchouli and Lavender. I really like them both. The Essential oils that really make me

are YlangYlang and Jasmine if I smell them out of the bottle. They are just way too sweet for me. But if they are combined with others in a blend I can handle them. What is really nice is cleaning up after soaping a batch that just has nice essential oils. Steamy hot water giving me a nice smelling facial :)

This is not a "from scratch" recipe. But it is really delicious and simple. Everyone always loves them. I know a lady that caters and sells them for a lot! Then one day I found the recipe in a book I already had. HA! I knew it wasn't that hard to make just because I bake all the time. My hubby is glad we make it ourselves now.

Chocolate Caramel Pecan Squares

1 (14oz) pkg caramels, wrappers removed
2/3 cup evaporated milk (divided)
1 (18.25oz) pkg German chocolate cake mix (pudding style)
1/2 cup melted real butter
1 (6oz) pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans divided

Preheat oven to 350 F. Melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk in medium saucepan over low heat until smooth, stirring occasionally. Combine cake mix, butter and remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Press half of the cake mixture into greased 13x9 inch baking pan. Bake 6 minutes. Remove from the oven. Sprinkle top with chocolate chips and 1/2 cup pecans. Top with caramel mixture, spreading to edges of pan. Sprinkle bits of remaining cake mixture evenly over top and sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup pecans. Bake 20 minutes more. Cut into squares.

So true, I really don't like patchouli or at least in the past. Maybe it's the mix but in flower boom perfume I like it.
