I know my birds don't appreciate this weather much. They didn't get a lot of time to be out. I hate having to keep them cooped up.

One of the biggest problems with Ameraucana mislabeling is people not knowing or understanding the difference between them and EE. Many think it means the same thing and aren't trying to deceive the people they sell chicks to. The hatcheries that mislead people are largely to blame for the misunderstandings. There is nothing wrong with an EE. I have a number of them, but I do not have any true Ameraucana. Two of mine were suppose to be, but I didn't understand the differences either when I got them as chicks. If you aren't looking to show or breed for purebred Ameraucana then it doesn't really matter.

Also EEs I believe, the white one may be an ameraucana possibly.

Yellow skin (on the bottoms of feet) indicate EE. Ameraucanas have white skin.

I can't see the comb of the white one clear enough on my phone. Ameraucana have pea combs.
EE combs can vary greatly depending on genes.

I give up. They are beautiful and I wouldn't trade them for anything, but I bought these under the impression they were Ameraucana's. Oh well too much confusion with is breed for a newbie like me. At least now I know more about what to look for. Thank you for the help

It is frustrating but later when you search for more (mwahahaha chicken math) if you're looking for pure ameraucana look for a breeder off the Ameraucana club site or do what I did and send pics to the Easter egger bragger thread and they let you know straight away before you purchase in a nice way (or the Ameraucana thread- tread quietly lol) .

I give up. They are beautiful and I wouldn't trade them for anything, but I bought these under the impression they were Ameraucana's. Oh well too much confusion with is breed for a newbie like me. At least now I know more about what to look for. Thank you for the help

Tip #1 If the breeder spells the name Americana, the probability of his/her birds being EE is near definite. True Ameraucana breeders who understand the breed and breed standards know how to spell the breeds name. Hatcheries will spell it with an "i" so they cannot get in trouble for not selling the true birds.

Also a few questions to the selling breeder could help immensely. Ask them what the difference between Ameraucana and Easter Eggers are. If they same "It's the same thing. Easter Eggers is just a nickname"..... then you know they have EE's and move on.... A true breeder will know that it is not and be able to explain.

Also become familiar with the accepted colors. Some colors are project colors and are not accepted yet like Lavenders. So at this moment they are technically EE's. They may one day be accepted as a color.

I don't want to be one to mislead because I don't know what I'm talking about. I like the EE there is defiantly nothing wrong with them. I'm proud to own them. I was just looking for pure bred Ameraucana though. The rooster I got because I liked him and made an assumption( my bad won't happen again) the 2 hens I was mislead on so whether it was on purpose or not I'll never know. I'm not mad about it, just disappoint they aren't the breed I wanted. I'm learning, that's why I love this sight. Y'all are so knowledgeable and so helpful.

Thanks, I am very proud. I had killed lots of bottles and beer cans on the levee and lots of paper targets at the shooting range and lots of snakes out in the country, but with all my big talk that was it. I really hate possums. I hope I don't catch any coons. I know they are as bad or worse than possums, but they are cuter. I guess I have given the coyotes easy meals for two days.

Coon are 10 time worse than a possum don't let cute nothing get in the way theres lots of cute thats evil/bad I f coons had thumbs theyd be higher up than the apes in the animal kingdom way too smart thankfully their dexterity sorta keeps them at bay some.

Ok thank you. I will defiantly be way more careful when I try again next time. Yes I have noticed how "sensitive" people can be when you call it wrong. I mainly post here , and just read in the other threads, the conversations on here are all very accepting and welcoming I feel more comfortable with being wrong with y'all.
