Poor PolishMy little white bantam Frizzle just started dropping feathers by the handful 2 days ago. Like seriously??? In the middle of winter. She doesn't have any bare spots yet but I bet she isn't done yet. I guess its time for more beans and scrambled eggs. That is what I have been giving them when someone is molting and it seems to have been really helping them get nice feathers in. I also add anything else that is around that's good nutritious eats. I am just glad that she is housed in the greenhouse right now.
Goofy girl.
My little one is putting out a bucket of feed right now before bed, 'cuz those reindeer gotta eat to you know!
(My the horse is going to be fat after this. She already got extra feed this morning!)
Do you soak and cook the beans? Half of my crew is in some form of molt. A really rough bunch right now. But, Irish is the worst!!
Waiting on Santa. Sleeping in Amanda's room at her house, the only night of the year I do that. Food already out for the rain deer and for Santa.
The gumbo was delicious.
Can I give the girls canned beans for protein?
Gotta go, Amanda thinks Santa won't come if I'm texting. Lol
Legumes are toxic to chickens raw. You need to cook them first. This type of protein is hard for them to digest. So, yes, if you cook them first. Fish meal and other meats are better. I try not to buy feed with soy. It is that thing were people think chickens are vegetarian. I will cook up cheep frozen fish for them to add to their diet. Sence so many fresh water fish carry Parasites cooking makes good sence. If I had the ability to fish I would keep a few extra to feed to my girls. Cooked fish Bones are dangerous. I have been told there is a why to make the bones edable, but do not know how to do prepair it. On the other hand you can grind the bones and give it to chickens in their feed. (That is a lot of work).
