"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

[quote

First...I am NO expert...not even a toddler. Lets see what the others say, but I think hens. Your blue looks just like my LouLou and she lays me a pretty blue egg very day. My girls were hatched April 8th. I think ours are the same age. Are you sure they aren't hiding them somewhere in the yard? Could someone be eating them? Hope the others will offer their suggestions.

Their poop still looks like worms and someone said the poop will get fatter when they start laying bec their vent will get bigger. I've been watching their poop. But it could be possible about maybe they are laying and I haven't found the eggs. I do check all around just about daily. The molting is over so I am getting eggs from everyone else.

They are definitely pullets maybe they will start up soon.  Are those EE/hatchery americanas) or pure AM/Amerauracana? Hatchery EE are some of the best layers there are the AM should still be laying by 9 mo too tho. J/s

Jeff

Whew!! That was a scare to even think they were Roos. No, not hatchery. Got them from a Layer that only had Amercaunas. For health reasons she was not going to continue with the chickens and I got two from her last hatch. Actually I got 3 counting the roo I gave to another Layer.

Pam, my late husband was part Indian. He knew maybe more them most today, but still less then he wanted to. What I know is also only a little. Most of what I know is what we did to them when we landed. There are 2 books that are a must, 1491 and 1493 by Charles Mann. I get 98% of my books in audio form! I was basically illiterate until my 50's. I am very dyslexic. I have Audible app on my phone. The books tell about as it was and what happened.

Most people do not know that for houndreds of years cod fisherman have been coming here, setting up tempory camps, then leaving for the season. Fisherman were not likely to tell were they had the best fishing. That for about 50 years we lived in peace with the Indians. That we became enemies becouse of the sons of the founding fathers and of the Indian leader just didn't like the white men and visa versa. Same story sence the beginning of time. Parents build, the kids tare it down.

Other books are
America's Hideden History by Kenneth C. Davis. About fighting women, and forgotten founders.

Original meanings by Jack Rakove, this is about what our forefathers were thinking at the time.

Also of interest in learning true story of life of the period before it became way to dangerous and therefore to expensive to have slaves. (Most slaves were actually the equivalent of captive Navey Seals and the Black Watch (given name by those they fought "the lady's from hell". Ladies becouse they wore black kilts). This book is in a fictional story.

The Book of Night Women, by robin Miles. It is a little hard to take, yet it paints a picture of relatity of the time

I have other books but can not think of there names. I am still trying to find out more about the Native American foods pre 1492.

What am I?

I am quite large, have a beard, feathered legs, and ear tuffs with red ear lobes.

He was dropped off at my house. Another "aggressive" rooster from the people that I got my last one from. When I picked him up he laid his head on my shoulder and started talking to me. I don't know what leg color he has because they are bright red right now. In two treatments all I have to do is hold up a bottle of olive oil and he goes running inside to the bathtub for treatment so I'm thinking I was right about possible scaly leg mites. Either that or he really likes to be pet and talked to.

Thank you for the links. I have had concern about moving them. I like the statement "Staples should be attached one to several days before the move. Bees do not take kindly to hammering at night (or day for that matter)". I would have never figured that out. But moving it as a unit will present a problem. I had at one point considered changing from dry van to specialty of moving bees. Now days bees are moved in refrigerated vans. No, at at -20. But to keep them cool. It lowers the death rate closer to normal end of life cycle. Most of the time (depending) the brood supper is sealed and moved, when setting them up a fresh honey supper is added with quean excluder. Some time 1 or more full frames are added. This was told to me by a bee keeper. I found this interesting because everything I have read and heard Sayers do not do this for several reasons. It was probably something he dose only. I belong to a local bee club, unfortunately I have not been attending. There is actually 2 owners. I will have to buy out my partner. He is very controlling, so I have backed away from the management. Partners do not always work out, as in my case. He has me feeding them, I do not believe in that. Only if hard times, or at the beginning. I believe it weakens the hive, and the honey is of a poor quality. Sugar and corn syrup, will never make good honey.

I will be bringing it. I'm up for the move. I just hope the cover doesn't tare. It will most likely be moved with my chickens.

Thank you I will get some of these. I still want the one from the saginaw tribe because its all their history and they documant when the white man came. also they were friendly with the inuets[ probaily spelled wrong] tribe from canada and alaska. something happened and through their history have been friends and warring with each other. I think my friend told me other people white and other racees were here before columbus. Pam

Mine were like that too when they had injurys. I'd let them sleep in a box in my utillty room. They never once got out the box and were good about getting doctored up too.

Beautiful day so the bunnies had time in their play yard. They seemed so happy but the chickens were jealous and hung out at the fence.
