Im looking for the rhode island reds new hamshire reds prouduction reds and red sex links for the eggs id like to get some allready ready to lay but if id id have to get them from chicks id be more than happy to go that route to

It is easier to get them as chicks because the ones already laying could have been exposed to unwanted things. I have gotten two roosters now from the same person and both had scaly leg mites. It is not their fault, I know them personally and they care for their animals very well but for chickens that don't like coops you can't treat them if you can't catch them and that is their only problem. Birds from any other place I quarantine because I have no clue what they were exposed to. Some things take a few weeks to show up. It is harder to treat and try to save a bird then it is to prevent it in the first place.

I haven't exactly figured out who my head hen is. HMMMMM....It might be my LouLou. Prim and her granddaughter are coming out to the house this weekend, I'll see if she can help me figure it out. I feel a little silly not knowing.

I thought DohDoh (Gold Star) was a rooster in the brooder because she was the one to keep everyone in line and the first to figure out anything. She also grew a comb and wattle much faster then anyone else. If you were to look at her now you wouldn't guess she was the head hen until you catch her correcting someone. No one gets on the top roost without her approval, no one mates until she likes the rooster, and if she has to get off the roost to correct someone they are going to pay for it. She hasn't drawn blood in anyone but she will flap her wings and peck until the other one is in the corner and won't come out without her moving. She is also the one that teaches the roosters manners. However, if you were to see her in the yard she just looks like a spoiled hen.

We compost them. Lots, we drink way too much coffee lol

Thanksgiving day everyone was looking at me strange for getting several coffee pots, they thought I was crazy when I told them they burn out quickly at my house. This year the black and decker ones were on sale and the old one that I have has lasted the longest, 1 whole year without the burner plate or pump burning out. I clean mine often but there is always a new pot brewing before the auto shut off can kick in. I drink it like the Britt's drink tea!

Welcome to you new head hen! If she keeps that spot she will do great, my one and only gold star is my head hen and shared duties with one other before. If she looses the head hen spot there will be issues with not having another like her and you'll have to treat her like Primrose until you can get another.

I will definitely keep that in mind, thank you!! She's so funny already. They were all standing side by side and she squeezed her way right in the middle like she didn't want to be left out hahaha.

I don't know if they are universal because I have never used one but there are a ton of them sold cheaply on Ebay. I thought you were having a plucker built instead of buying one.

I don't compost, so that's out as far as the coffee grounds. I once used them on ants but the animals were eating the coffee grounds and they were up for days with no sleep from the caffeine. LOL

We make so much coffee at work and I just cringe when I see all of those coffee grinds going to waste. I am trying to find ways to re-use it.

Yes, I am having a plucker built and he needs the fingers. That's why I'm asking about the fingers only. I have to order fingers today and wanted to know the cheapest place to buy the fingers from.
